preformed the boost bypass mod

i preformed this mod yesterday and can tell some difference in my car. its not a really big difference and im not getting any more boost but my car actually hits 12.5psi now and where i was hitting 7psi before i hit 10psi now. thats probaably why i feel a little difference because im hitting a little higher boost where i was hitting less before.

Bypass valve is open everytime you're not hard on the gas.

Doesn't matter. The bypass valve will not allow you to make boost at idle. As for the bypass... It will allow you to go past the limit the computer had set anytime you make boost

Why is it that somepeople's SS S/C are not producing a whole lot of boost? How many miles do you have on your car? I have 3200 miles on my bolt, and i've been hitting 12 to 12.5 PSI for about 1000 miles now.

boost issues

i did the wastegate mod on my 09 ss, by shortening the rod on the wastegate, well my car did seem to build boost faster not rlly more but faster, it ran good for about a month and yesterday my boost droped to about 10 psi and and now it wont make over about 6, and my check engine lite is on, i ran the code and it said " engine supercharger/turbocharger running low boost levels" do you think this wastegate mod is at fault?.......... :/

Yes, and a quick search for "Boost bypass", and then selecting "search post titles only" under the search box will yield your answer.

No, it was an ancient mod (2005 lol) that was used to drop pulleys or just stop the computer from limiting boost in certain situations, BEFORE we had tuning ability. Now It is mostly used for Diagnostic purposes to verify if a boost issue is being caused by a bypass problem. Not a good idea to run this mod for long anymore, just get a tune.

To help out with this mod and clarify some things....

1.) Only works on stock and untuned (stage kits) motors
2.) Doesnt work if ur MAP # is lower than the boost ur pulley should run.

(Ex. A 3.0 pulley should give u 14-15psi, but if ur MAP is set to 190-200 ur boost wont actually go any higher), so if u boost bypass it the pcm still shows ur set to 190-200 so itll just flutter ur boost gauge and ull get lower boost.
