I'm only 1.5 car ahead of my friend's one???

I have stage 2 with the R.A.W. intake and he's stock with an Injen intake.

From 25 mph in 2nd, we punch it at the same time and at the end of the third gear, I'm only a bit more than one car in front of him!!!

We did this 3 times and the same results occur. As we race, I'm passing him SOOO much slowly! You can really imagine how slowly I pass him if I get only a bit more than one car on him at the end of the third gear!

My question is ... what the hell???? The stage 2 is at least 30 more whp than stock no??? I should have like 2-3 cars in front of him? I'm feeling like my car is like only 10 more hp than his one!

And before any replies, my air filter is like new. I'm boosting 15-16 PSI so my cat is certainly not cloged. My IAT1 and IAT2 temperatures are like this:

WOT, end of third gear: IAT1= 73F, IAT2 = 135F
Highway driving at 65 mph: IAT1= 73F, IAT2 = 98F

I tested the car for those IAT2s 15 minutes ago in order to see what I would get. I have to add that I got a little accident with my car during the winter 2 years ago and as a result, my intercooler is bent, but not very much (but really noticable). This is the only real damage that the car got, everything else is fine.

So according to you guys, is this normal to have this little advantage against a stock car with an intake, my car beeing stage 2? It seems like Im not enough powerfull for what I have done to my car!

GM stage 2 tune isn't designed for that intake. Go get a real tune. Or put your stock intake back on and try again and see what happens.

I'm grasping at straws here.

I have the GM Stage 2 tune yes... and he doesn't have any tune, he is stock and I, myself, installed the Injen intake in his car.

For the driver comparison, hes very good but I have the WOT Box and I no lift shifted so this should make me a good driver with this

A strange thing I see however, is that with the Interceptor gage, Im getting 265 hp with the Intake on, and 272 hp with the stock intake (from 6600 to 7000 RPM). I dont know if the gage is good at calculating horsepower?

I know that it doesnt tell you your REAL horsepower, you have to set it up with a dyno, but at least, should not it give you accurate readings when for example you add a mod?

Let's say I add a header and I get 278 hp, so it is telling me that I get more power with it. This is just an example...

According to you guys, how much cars should I get on him? Am I far of what Im supposed to see? Also, he has the Injen intake. I have the R.A.W. intake... I begin to think that the R.A.W. intake doesnt give me the hp I'm supposed to get :S Does any people have dynoed their car after puting a R.A.W. intake?

When I just had intake and my friend had gm stage2 with intake he took me by about 6 cars from 40-110 or so. And when i had stage 2 and catback i raced a stock one and put at least 5 cars on him. I have both runs on video if you want a comparison. It seems like you should he faster than that

Not to be a dick, but stage 2 isn't that great.

Think about this tho, 30hp puting 1.5 cars isn't bad

Also have to figure that any car engine HP is typically just an estimate, I am currently using an Injen CAI, Corsa Touring Cat=Back w/ GMPP Extrude Honed Manifold and 3" Downpipe and Highflow Cat. No tune as of yet and I race my buddy's w/ similar mods +stage 2 w/ tune and I hold pace with him with the stock pulley. Sometimes its the driver, sometimes it could be flaws w/ the car.

Ill post the two vids in the morning. I was shifting at a little before 7k in the one where I'm staged with 2.9, but you can still get a comparison. Just can't wait to get my 2.8, 60's and tune in!

Its not the intake. To be honest its probably pulling in much more air than that gm stage 2 tune is wanting to see and your cars like. WHAT THE ****.

Get a real tune and it'll be a different ball game.

BTW

your interceptor reads you the CRANK horse. thats why it says 270ish.

and like other people have said. the stage two tune is not made to be compatible for your intake. that's why so many people say canned tunes are ****. get a real tune from a company such as Trifecta or HPT, both of which can do data logging and optimize the tune for your car.

The thing I dont understand is that he greatly improved his performance with just an intake and hes stock. Before I could get like 2.5 cars on him. Its like if adding an intake for me with the stage 2 doesnt do anything or worsen thing. My injectors are maybe maxed out with those 42 lbs...

No they're not. You won't max out your IDC on a 2.9. Your probably running extremely rich, 9's etc.

Get a custom tune.
