Eh...i don't know if i like it, it still seems to close to an aveo for me.

I would like to see a coupe form.

And to the dude who said "blah blah two extra doors to throw **** into" whatever dude not everyone wants to drive a ******* car that is one step closer to a grocery hauling, whiny brat toting, sorry excuse for a "SPORTY" car. Your the kinda test market that convinced Chrysler it was a fantastic idea to take a good solid name like CHARGER and put it on a 4 door fat ass not cool looking at all grocery hauling, whiny brat toting, sorry excuse for a muscle car. FAIL!!!!

And what is the Challenger? It's 2-door, but it's no better...still a fat ass car that's a pretty sorry excuse...the only thing it has going for it is looks...Mustang and Camaro are more sports car than that thing. Is the Cobalt SS/TC sedan a sad excuse because it's 4-doors? How about both SS/TC's because they're FWD...

Come on...

If you want a sad excuse for a "sporty" car at least talk about the 2 ton Taurus SHO...

I have a friend with a Charger R/T and that thing is no slouch...I can only imagine what the SRT8 version has to offer.

GM really is starting to turn things around...it's not just about power, they are going after the Civic owners, the Corolla owners, the Jetta owners, etc. They want to put a QUALITY car out...higher quality materials and a better overall car for the money.

This will be a good thing...and I can't guarantee it, but I am sure they will come out with a coupe for all you whiners...maybe even a performance model down the road...but if they do a 1.4 turbo, there will be plenty to upgrade. I can see 300hp easily from one of those with upgrades.
The 1.4l may not be that easy to upgrade. I imagine to get the almost lag free performance that is required for a factory car will severely limit the turbo size and the extra performance you can push out of it. I mean there going to need something even smaller than a k03. Simply because people don't like to buy cars that lag alot especially with economy cars. Each one of the turbos on a BMW 335 is smaller than a deck of cards. And they have 1.5l going into each turbo.

Wow! I've never seen so much ignorance in my life. Yes GM got the Cobalt SS Turbo right finally....But for **** sake don't compare the base Cobalt to the Base Cruze. The Cobalt base i'm currently driving as a rental is ******* dogshit. It's fugly as hell, the interior is crap, the seats are square and uncomfortable, the styling is a failed attempt at a Neon, the suspension creaks and groans over eveything, the suspension throws you into the passenger seat when it body rolls like a ************, it sucks gas worse than my 260 hp Cobalt Turbo, it has decent power but in a package this cheap with a steering wheel that feels like Frozen puppy **** it's no wonder they're hanging this model to make way for the Cruze. Thank god half of you don't run GM. I think GM listened too much to people like you before. The Cruze is exactly the car the world needs from GM right now. Look how many Civics and Corollas sell per year. The base models not the sporty ones.....Now envision how a car with an interior that's well above the Civic and Corolla, with styling that looks quite a bit like the G8 from a side profile and a gorgeous front (mediocre rear but oh well) and a very small displacement Turbo engine (sound like the LNF much?) with direct injection, a sporty suspension and contrary to what half of you seem not to know a comporable sticker price to Toyota and Hondas vehicles of the same class what's not to love? This is the car that if successful will make future compact sport models a possibility again for Chevy. So start liking it because the fact that a 1.4L engine is making 170 HP...BTW if they do the gearing right, with the addition of the Turbo it wont be slower and might in fact be quicker than the current base Cobalt...That fact means that it will blow the doors off the competition. Ford is making a mistake with the RS because with the new Cafe standards most people will jump ship from the Mustang because if my SS T/C can keep up with a GT at only 260HP just imagine what the RS can do.....To me it's still a Ford, it got **** poor reviews for the most part in Europe and it will be way too overpriced like the Taurus. Sorry Ford circles the problem perfectly and it's a big serving of fail. Good on GM for brining out the Cruze and I wish them success. I'll be buying it next and keeping my SS as my toy.

Your logic is a bit flawed on the Mustang.

2011
5.0L 400hp v8
3.7L 315hp v6

So a 300hp fwd Focus RS isnt going to really hurt those sales. But it could very well help the ford focus line. And wow you really are a bandwagon chevy fan. Now granted this is a Chevy site.. But the Ford Focus RS is well known and Well loved by automotive press and the public. As far as the Turbo cobalt keeping up. Sure it can but the cobalt feels like a lot less can than the current mustang and honestly Id sure hope 260hp @3000lbs could keep up with 300hp @ 3400lbs. But the mustang feels a lot more solid and not as cheap as the tc. Also keep in mind the Mustang runs on 87 octane the TC doesnt.

But all of this is off topic.

Honestly to me the cruze looks good on the inside but the outside screams aveo to me which kills it for me.

I guess we just wait and see...Since the engine is to be used in Opel's Astra as well, I would imagine it will have a decent aftermarket in a few years.

The Bimmer is very upgradeable (yes I know the cars aren't really comparable at all), but I have hope for this...that's why I won't be buying a first model year, I'll wait one to 2 years before I consider buying one.

I mean look at the Pontiac G6...my wife bought an 05 G6 V6 brand new off the showroom floor. The Base and GT were the only options...no coupe, no convertible, no GTP or GXP. Within a couple years they offered all those options...I'm confident GM will do something similar...they'll probably offer a coupe within a year or two depending on sales. They may offer a performance oriented version within that time frame as well. We'll just have to wait and see.

The fact that you think the front of the chevy cruze is gorgeous ruins all credibility you may have had....lambo's are gorgeous, benley's are gorgeous....chevy cruze is just some run of the mill boring family sedan...you dont see evo owners saying "oh god check out that gorgeous galant" or speed3 owners excited about the new mazda5

Not that it matters, but IMO the front is the ugliest part of the car. I've hated that front ever since they put it on an Avalanche
