General Inquiry: Procharging a Cobalt
I tried to make the title in a way that wouldn't get too many people excited and let them down thinking that someone was actually doing it, I'm not. This is just a general inquiry I wanted to throw out there. I don't even have my SS/SC anymore....
...but...
has there ever been any attempt to Procharge or use any type of Centrifugal supercharger on a Cobalt?
I should be getting deployed next year and when I return I am going to get a C5 as my project and I've been doing a lot of research on Procharger.
They have incredible gains that rival turbocharged cars on stock motors (usually 50-60% gains), for usually less than the cost of a turbo kit. They have better heat efficiency than turbos too. So, basically, the instant torque of a supercharger, without the heat soak.
Just throwing this out there. I would love to see a Cobalt SS with a Procharger throwing down some big, street reliable numbers with out the lag of a turbo or the heat soak of a supercharger.
I know there are a few that are always looking to be different, figured I'd share this idea for your guys' sake, too.

the guy I got my blower from and some of my piping put down 346 on a 2.55 pulley on a hybrid 2.4 and 2.0

yup fully built motor too
price if you're converting from an ss/sc would be about 4k for a full setup including new manifold and fmic and 2.2 alternator however if yo just get blower bracket and use stock manifold it would be like 2600 or so the blower itself is like 2300
if you get used parts thats different
i'd personally say go with a base setup... (use stock manifold and a second HE and such) it would give you a decent setup for a cheaper price i'll post pics of the idea later

crappy example but thats the only one i could find it wouldn't look that ugly theres the similar setup i'm talking about but i can't find pics

That keeps consistent with my thoughts in the original post. Which was that their % gains are usually really high. On V8's they usually make 50-60%, they seem to make more on sport compacts. They have a kit for the Civic Si that makes a 75% gain.
What are your numbers now? Or are they still pending?

i put down about 100 whp over stock which is about 60%, for that I had a zzp header and dp 1.75" primaries, 3" dp and a 2.25 or 2 3/8 in catback (tsudo) and just a filter on the procharger inlet
i re tuned some things after that and bumped up the redline which should've given me a bit more top end hp
i put the 2.95 on with that exhaust setup and it felt a good amount quicker.. then i put the 3" catback on and it feels slower lol but i did that because when i put the 2.55 on i'll need a 3"
as i said i'll be making a "real" intake that will go into the fender to pull in cold air and will have the option to recirculate the BOV

numbers now are still pending but they'll probably be on 15 psi, a good intake, and welded charge pipes, I might go back and hit the dyno with the 10 psi idk yet i need to just get everything all set intake and piping wise first lol

this should help let me pull some more power out of the car since it wont be sucking in engine heat
i'm using the c-1 blower the smallest one they make .. kevin and are are tossing around the idea at me running a p1sc-1 from the newer mustangs and seeing how that works out

Those guys run 8psi and show gains of 150+hp.
Kinda vague answer, but in short: yes, it's possible, but then again, anything is possible on any car with enough ingenuity, effort, and custom work.
Then engine bay on the 2.0 is different than on the 2.2 (obviously), so mounting it and running the belt is going to be your biggest issue and elecblue won't be able to help you with that since he has a different model.
Any Procharger setup on any cobalt is going to be custom as Procharger does not have a kit for the Cobalt.

Long story short. I got rid of my Cobalt this past March because I'm getting married and I wanted to put away more money each month toward it.
I should be getting deployed this coming Summer, and if I do, when I get back I will be getting a C5 for a project, and I've been researching Procharger and I got to thinking what it would have been like to put one on a Cobalt -- so I posted a thread. If I would have kept the Cobalt, this is probably what I would have done. Kudos to you for trying it

no new pump is needed you need new injectors, piping, bracket, FMIC, and blower are needed, bov or bypass valve. and some other misc things
i did an install in a 2.2 that was basically stock otherwise.. you can do it on a stock car you just wont get as big of gains
