Secondary Air Injection on late production 2006 L61's
Alright, I checked underneath the car to see if I have 2 resonators/cat and I only have one. And about the cylinder blocking my view I don't think I have that cylinder as I compared the picture in first page to mine.

So I suppose I have no SAI like you guys said?
bump
Just notice there's this one component near the header itself and couldn't really tell if that's a cat but I posted a picture for you guys to help me figure it out.

the one in a "??" is that a cat?
sorry for too many questions...

gRuNg3b0y: You do not have SAI, so quit worrying about it. That thing you circled is the flex section of the downpipe. If you looked at the first post, you would see that all you need to look for is the SAI line running off the air box. The cats are really unimportant and don't matter.
I have a question....has anyone else disconnected the pipe from the SAI solenoid to the header? I pulled it off for about a week to test a theory, and I haven't gotten any CEL....it stinks like a **** though because of that hole so I bolted it back in....
Also I read more for how the SAI system works, so it looks like fooling it is going to be a pain in the ass...it uses the Barometric sensor in the car

If you have everything still electrically connected, you probably wouldn't get a CEL. But driving around with that hole your header isn't doing any good.
This thread explains what you have to do to disable the system. There is no need to fool it.

Halfcent, your a smart dude, I've read your posts, but don't assume the options available to some aren't always available to everyone. And i'm not driving around with it disconnected, i thougth I said I reconnected it after a week, maybe I didn't.
I've got an '08 G5 and it have two catilytic convertors in and row and a resonator after that! I'll try to post a pic when I get home.
Never mind I see someone else has posted one.

Thankyou bill nye...and yes there is a need to fool the system. I do not live in new jersey, new york, or washington where people have shops that will do this work. I also do not have an editing program to help me work on the system for an LS model. I live in a city (Las Vegas) where no one wants touch the codes for the SAI system because they are afraid of the FEDERAL repurcussions for altering an exhaust system.

State laws govern the operation of vehicles on public roads. You could rip the entire exhaust out of the car and drive it around so long as you didn't use it on the street. The only legal problem you could possibly have is if you state has emmision controls. Here in Tennessee, we have to get a test once a year. So long as there are no codes in the computer and the exhaust sniffer is happy with what comes out the other end, you pass.
I don't know what Nevada's laws are, but I'm pretty sure there is a Chevy Dealer somewhere in the city of Las Vegas. When you go to a Chevy Dealer, most probably won't do it because they don't like doing modification work to their own products for policy reasons. But there are no laws preventing them from doing it. And if that's what they are telling you, they are just trying to get rid of you.
As we have discussed in this thread, you have to make some friends and find somebody that is willing to do it for you. It's not a big deal, it just has to be off the dealerships books. Here's the beautiful part, once it's done, the cars is EXACTLY like any other Cobalt that doesn't have SAI. The next guy to work on the car wouldn't notice one damn thing wrong with it, because there isn't anything wrong with it!
Relax sparky. There are no FEDERAL repercussions for altering a car in any way. The fed only has standards for the construction of vehicles sold in the US. Once it's in the owners hands, they can do anything they want to it.

hell if you remove the entire SAI system from your car and get someone to flash the codes the chevy techs themselves wouldn't know any better.
SAI is just a pain the ass til you know what to do to get around it.
my name is Kyle and i have been SAI free for 3 weeks and i'm loving every moment of it.

its called a trifecta tune :P
get the rest of your bolt ons then get vince to send you a tune for full bolt ons and tell him to flash out sai and voila. no more annoying vacuum turning on at startup.
does anyone else think that the small pump on the sai system looked like a baby turbo? lol

you most certainly will.
now with GM in chapter 11 that's one of the first things they look for, any aftermarket tuning.
my advice would be to pick up a second pcm and throw the tune on that and swap out the pcm's when going in for warranty work.
im not too worried about warranty since my 36k bumper to bumper warranty expired and i only have about 5k miles left on powertrain.

my dealer hook up said he tried but my stuff is locked??? does that make any size?? and said i dont need to change my info about new tire sizes? stock was 195/55/r15 now i got 205/60/r16. said no differnce for speedo
and as far as the dealer goes, they will not reflash your ECU to change the speedo, or for any other reason. unless there is an update or something, they will only flash your ECU with the exact one your model uses.
try one of the vendors who will tune 2.2's, flash out SAI, and do some other stuff and maybe gain a couple whp while ur at it
well there have been 1 or 2 others who are willing, like CED (the vendor here, who doubles as a Chevy dealer). I wouldn't be suprised though if GM locks the ECU from being reflashed with the wrong model with the tech2
