service airbag soon light, stays on for 2 sec, comes back 10 min later...

so, i have read all the threads and still had a few questions for all of you, I got into my car tonight and the little air bag symbol on my dash came on with the message "service airbag soon" on the DIC and went away after 2-3seconds... so I thought ok, it was a computer glitch or something, well it came back after 10 min.... and 10 min after that and so on all the way home on my 30 min drive.... the passanger sensor works completly fine still.... also I had the coil thing (cant remember the name ha) in the steering wheel replace at 40K

my car is a 07 2LT with 49K on it..... hope its covered still

anyways, anything will help, looks like I'm going to the stealers on monday!

thanks in advance!

ok, the biggest thing I have done to my car myself has been installing the highrise and changing out the gauge face plate, is it harder than that haha, do you mean 10 min after you get to the part? or total time? haha may sound dumb but i just wana know why they want 220 for labor haha

they want Diag time. Alll you have to do is remove the air bag a small flatblades screw driver or pick into the two hole on either side of steering wheel and unplug it. then one 13/16 nut on the wheel itselfe unplug the controls on that and remove you column cover via the 3 7mm bolt on bottom. the the spring is like right there and i believe two phillips heads. i will get you some pics today after work what is your email?

they already are doing it, but I found out that this part, the "SRI coil, clock spring, column spring" is all the same part, my dealer was not very clear on that point, so in may of last year this part was replace already at 34K miles, so now I'm fighting with gm to pay, they now said that they will pay for the part but want to stick me with labor, believe me, I'm still going to fight them about it. but thank you for all your help!

sad to say but I'm just looking into diffrent cars now, im tired of have to get things fixed twice lol.

I'm having this problem too. It started after I took off the airbag to fix a dent in the emblem on the airbag cover. I had to remove the cover to do this. I didn't damage the airbag while doing this...it was fairly easy and straight forward. Put the airbag back on and got the "service airbag soon" message. Took it to the dealer and they pulled up code B0012. They said it was the SIR coil and wanted to charge me 225 for labor. I bought the part and easily installed it in about 45 minutes, but I'm still getting the message. Could it be the airbag itself? Odd that it would be bad just from taking the airbag cover off and putting it back on.

had the same problem in my 09... clock spring... easy fix... but be careful when doing this... you don't want to **** with the airbag too much... i stay away from anything near the air bags... get someone who knows what they are doing.. not sure if it is dangerous but better safe than sorry

just generally saying about the sensitivity. You may have damaged your airbag in your repairs
