The build was a long vigorous one and finally done!

ok well ive had the car running and drove around a little, it is knocking some so i am a little paranoid. i will get a video of the idle sound. but the sound doesnt sound like it did last time when it was tapping valves and it doesnt sound like everyone elses car with normal cam lobing. every now n then it makes a really weird noise and im gettin worried that somethings wrong. checked timing, its still in time so idk why it would smack valves (if it is, its in time so it better not be). my oil level is good so im not low or overfilled with that, im gettin ready to go check spark plugs gap (im runnin a step colder... that bad?)

has anyone with neutral balance shafts had problems with getting the knock sensor to go off?

question...did you do a valve clearance check before shaving the head and smaller gasket as much as you did???

no i didnt do a check but i threw a thicker than stock head gasket on, not worried bout higher compression. but i could freely spin the motor by hand. im pulling cover and rechecking the timing for a 3rd time and im switching out with new 32# injectors and stock plugs then try it again. maybe im paranoid from blowin it up twice? but were gonna check it all again

subscribed for mike lol. going back to my house now with some new parts. 2-4 are really rich, 1 is running good (according to spark plugs). unplugged knock sensor and car was still having problems with idle so im gonna change out for new plugs and injectors then check timing and if there is a problem itll prob be in the tune, hopefully

i wasnt plannin to remove them completely but if in the end thats what ill have to do then well see but til then maybe just tryin to desensitize the knock sensor? idk whats goin on yet, well see later when i get it apart n if a new tune will work out better for stable idle

its got to be something as there are people running those balance shafts without problems...

Ah knocking like real knock ? i thought you were speaking of a tapping noise...

It is normal you have some knock events if you still have the same ignition advance as stock with your higher compression, you'll now need less advance than on a stock map (personally I only have about 23° advance at full load / high rpm with my 12:1 CR, which is pretty low)

I am about 99% sure that you need neutral balance shafts if you are running the car above 7500 rpm, or at least it is a VERY good idea.

idk if it is real or not, but changing out from the 1 step colder plugs for the lsj (2 steps colder and 6mm shorter than L61 plugs) the knock noise went down considerably but now im having issues with gettin codes for high and low voltages to different sensors plus tuning is goin skitty cuz my ecm isnt staying connected to the program.... gettin pissed n tired of this car

i know that. that is why i am using them. but i was wondering if anyone else that uses them got the knock sensor to go off some cuz of them
