But yes, I went to the parts store today and saw a few versions of that under-coating.. I'm likely just gonna buy a case of that and go to town around the car.. Door panels, trunk, under carpet, wheel wells, etc.. Anywhere not paint.. lol
I am too. You really need to layer it on it seems, but going to be changing my cars color, i would like to get rid of all of the yellow parts under carpets and ****, and what better way then to spray some undercoating.

Honestly, I don't see why not. But if I remember correctly, doesn't that harden? If so, it may rattle or something slightly after enough road vibrations..

I wouldn't use that. it expands. Plus it doesn't come out easily if you would ever need to access those holes.

Accessibility is what I was worried about with that pillow fluff.. Imagine getting that all out.. lol

But using the fluff and the undercoating would turn this bitch into a Cadillac.. lol

its been discussed witht he expanding foam insulation stuff, and yes it works and it works well for keepign things from vibrating, it is tough to get out and you have to remember it expands like 10x its size. so if you have 2 pieces rubbing and vibrating together, give a spritz of that stuff in there, and it should solve your problems. but i wouldnt put it all over.

The cotton **** I used works well though because it weighs close to nothing, doesnt really hurt anything, costs close to nothing, and can easily be taken out if you ever wanted by pulling it out or a shop vac if you needed to. doesnt leave that tarry nasty ****, but you could probobly use some fatmat/dynomat etc. for a truely quiet ride. this is good to add as well as that stuff

I could see if you had a Lamborghini and **** was rattling around, but we're talking about a cookie-cutter-econ-box here.. I'm surprised my door panels are still on at 30k!

True that!!

The only thing that rattles on mine is the door paneling at times. Not sure if this would help with that, though.

It actually might be because I had aftermarket power windows and locks installed and I don't think they put the panel back on correctly, I've been meaning to check it out..

And I can't believe some guys are having problems with the trunk lid rattling.. I never hear noise back there. Weird.

Undercoating is just that spray the under body I personally would spray it inside the car. I took all panels of the car basically stripped its interior and then used 1 roll wrapped fiberglass insluation in all rear openings. Then I bought $120 worth of Fatmat off ebay and covered the whole floor inside and all panels, doors except the roof. Then bought 5 cans of rubberized undercoating and sprayed the under body with it. Its so much better only thing I may do yet is get some luxuryliner pro for the floor so its whisper quiet. Total cost so far is $191. luxury liner pro will be $150

But would you honestly say that it was worth it? I'd imagine the road noise, chassis noise, etc is greatly minimized..

Iv used fatmat in the past, it seems to work alright but you need to layer that stuff. The undercoating says its a sound deadner right on the can, but like most of this ****, 1/16" isnt gonna sound deaden anything. Eventually I think I might pick up some fatmat or another product like it and put it down, then add some undercoating over it. ill spray that **** where ever I can get it. But id definitly like to put something on the back side of the plastic dash panels to try to keep them from rattlign on a cold day.

i know that the doors are a rather large source of noise. once the stripping runs out right before the side mirrors. i hear that wind noise alot and it bugs me.

Perfect. Looking into all options..

So, let's discuss the best places to do this stuff:

- under cabin carpet (all flooring)
- under rear seat
- throughout trunk space (in car)
- throughout door panels
- inside trunk
- under the chassis (under the car)
- inside wheel wells

Am I missing anything? I figure that the spray / roll-on would be best in the flat areas, under carpet, inside trunk area, etc and then to use the pillow fluff inside the door panel area and trunk.. Correct? Since the door panels and trunk have thick openings in them, the only way to properly fill them is with the fluff..

Would you also recommend doing inside the rear quarter panels? Is there a way to easily access that area (under quarter window)?

Lastly, how long does this spray / roll-on stuff need to "dry / cure" before you can use it like normal and/or it not smell? Luckily I can use my Olds for a few days during this process..
