The Hahn 2.4L Turbo - Update

As alot of you know, Hahn has already made a 2.4L Turbo for the Manual transmisions, he's in his final test and tune stages now.

And I know alot of you are like "What about the automatics?", well good news for you/me.

Ive been in contact with multiple people down at Hahn, and offered my car (i know, im so nice) to make the turbo for the 2.4L Auto. They are interested seeing that I only live an hour away from them.

Just thought alot of you would like to know, once the work starts, I will keep you all updated.

Good news for the automatic guys.

Just an heads up for anyone who plans on boosting, make sure you are ready for any possible problems that may occur.

Also, TCarter, ask Hahn what you guys can do to solve the oil pressure problem blowing oil seals? They might be able to set you up with the right oil line restrictor to solve this issue.

not really, the 2,2 turbo kit has been designed already way before the 2.4 but the tuning issues will continue to haunt the 2.2 for a while

Adam: the HRC kits have never had a problem with blowing seals due to oil pressure. That was just you and your custom kit. Notice how on JBO you never see posts about the HRC kits doing that? It's all you custom kit guys.

It was an issue with the 2.2s. I'd imagine the oil pressure is just as high.

I wasn't saying them specifically.

Didn't you tell me you had blown an oil seal on yours a while back and you had to get an oil line restrictor as well?

And no, it had nothing to do with my custom kit.

Just for general info, I used to build turbo bikes. I would always create a restrictor by braizing up an oil pressure fitting and drilling it out. I usually used a 37 to 45 thousanths drill for a 80-120 psi system. Be carefull and always start big - too small of an orfice and you will toast a cartridge (voice of experience).

Nope. I blew a gasket on the return side. Never blew a seal. And no I don't have a restrictor.

i just got a email from Bill himself a minute ago, he informed me that with the end of the drag strip season coming up, and the "three headed monster" (whatever the hell that is), and the upcoming SEMA show, he's pretty limited. He said and i quote "We are very interested in the Turbo Auto Cobalt" (ok, so it wasnt a exact quote, but he said something very similar).

I HOPE that they wish to do this before too long, and hopefuly it wont take too much conversion of the 2.4L Stick Turbo to the 2.4L Auto Turbo. So if im right (which i dont know much about turbo kits), it shouldnt take TOO incredibly long.

Once the production starts, I will be taking (or asking them to take) pictures of the install throughout the process and have them emailed to me to show you all. But I will definately keep you all posted.

FYI, as of right now my car is bone stock (minus the underglow neons, 5% tint, and rims). So it will be a good basis for you to all justify how much power is gained from a stock system.

However, I know there is a "testing" period that I must go through (to insure nothing breaks in the long run (ex. 6 months down the road)).

However, I will be upgrading the kit myself via new rods, boosting the PSI, and new connecting rods given the time and permission to do so by hahn (after the testing phase).

But once again, I will be more than happy to ask them any questions you might have (serious non stupid answers) when I speak to Bill.

By the way the Three Headed monster is the three cobalts the 2.2L, 2.4L and of course the LSJ Twincharged. I was up at Hahn on Fri picking up my full exhaust for my LSJ and I have seen the 2.4L Turbo they have there. It is the Sunburst Orange and lemme tell u it is looking sexy. Totally stock on the outside the FMIC (front mount) sits behind the stock black grill so it is barely noticeable! But I was talking to bill about this 2.2 and 2.4 auto and he says for now it will not be out for awhile. sorry to all of you auto people. as for the turbo kits and the twin-charge kit.... they are still trying to get the tuning perfect. many tweaks need to be made on all of the kits right now. the closest one to being done is the LSJ twin-charge kit which i may be picking up for a street tester... hehe
