Got my pedders installed. pretty sure i dicked up the rear ones tho.

i spent 3 hours installing my pedders today. it was my first time, im sure i could do it in less than 2 hours if i did it again. anyway, the fronts were cake. went on perfect, both sides even, no problems (air impact ftmfw).

rear springs.... they were a straight up bitch. idk if i have one upside down or not. i think i have one upside down and the other right side up. on the left side, i got the bottom plasic piece to seat, but the top will not seat. i got it up to the metal band on the bump stop. wont go any more, even with driving around. on the right side, its the opposate, the top one seated good, but the bottom one would not seat for ****. its halfway seated. the result, my right side rear sits maybe a 1/2" higher. not too noticable but annoying. i cant take them out till wednesday next week, so im driving around with them like that. lol. but its still handles good. i love the drop on the front. anyways, yep, what a bitch.

ive installed springs about 8 times.. really not sure how you could mess up the rears. Fronts would be alot easier to mess up. After reading your post twice i still dont understand what your saying lol.

I actually had this problem on my 2.4L.

I ended up spraying a ton of white lithium grease ,that
we use at the shop, all over where they seat on the axle.
Then me and another tech jounced the ass end a few times,
then we heard a noticeable "pop" and they were seated.

If/when you can, pull the rears out and lube them up. They should
slide right in. And if you can, try to line up the coils on each side so
they are roughly the same. If I remember right, I put the springs in
so the end of the spring(on the axle side) where they are cut point towards each other.

-hopefully that helps at least a lil

the rears are by far the easiest! 1 bolt per side and pull down

reverse that, rears should be done in a matter of 2 min, lol fronts were a different story, i had to brake my endlinks to get them to come off lol anyone know of the best way to take the endlinks off without braking them?

i had the same issue man, the pedders are tighter coiled on the ends of them i had a bitch of a time even getting my springs onto the plastic pieces then a worse time getting them to seat, i greased the **** outat the area where they seat onto the metal areas then got them halfway seated, then went for a drive and hit some speed bump like things on my road with a little bit of speed, and now there seated,, gonnahave a bitch of a time getting them off if i ever need to, even my stock ones seemed to be seized on, had a bitch of a time getting the stock ones out lol

A heat gun and some grease should do the trick. Heat up the spring enough to get it to expand slightly without altering the springs (I dont mean torch temps here!)

ill pull it apart later this week. plasitc end piece in the rear still isnt seated, even after driving around all day. the fronts were actually quite easy. if i had to do it again im pretty sure i could do the fronts in about an hour. you just need the proper tools. also, an air impact makes life sooo much easier.

i had my rear end on jack stands right in front of the rear tires and used a jack to jackup on the torsion beam. once i jacked it up a bit the weight of the car put em in place.

The top and bottom perches in the rear, i had to file down slightly (all the way around) to get them to seat properly on the top and bottom. There's the rounded lip, which I filed down to a smaller diameter, slowly heated them up in an oven, took them out, then lubed then popped them in. I would suggest using a spring compressor on the rear, have them compressed, jack up the rear beam, then slowly release the spring compressor. That way, the top and bottom mounts are more in line with each other than they would be if the beam was relaxed.

For the fronts, use an extended Torx45 (? or 47? I forget, but I had one in my toolbox, like this: http://instrumenti.lv/images/items/b8MykV3nu1o.jpg), with the shaft rounded, and a 15/16ths spark plug socket (http://www.mytoolstore.com/wilmar/w1126c.jpg). Place the socket on the strut nut, place a ratcheting wrench to loosen on the spark plug socket, feed the torx socket (with a locked ratchet/breaker bar) through the hole on the spark plug socket, and crank the wrench while holding the breaker bar. No need for impact gun, as that just ends up spinning the strut shaft inside the strut.

The rear springs are Bee Hive in shape. Its hard to tell, but they are. Skinny up top... and slightly fatter on the bottom. Once you finally figure out Top/Bottom orientation... set the springs on the ground... They will lean towards a certain direction. Remember this, because when you install them, the side they lean towards needs to be pointed towards the front of the car.

As far as getting them ON the Black Spring seats... take both top and bottom spring seats off of the car. COVER them with WD-40, K-Y, or some other luuuuuube. Slide/beat the seats into the springs... and then you're ready for the install.

Pedder's are a bitch and a half to install the first time... but they're sooooooo worth it.

You're looking from bottom to top in this pic:

the spring is beehive shaped....the pointy end is the top. If you set it on the ground you will also see that they have a "lean" to them.....they should be installed with pointy end up and leaning towards front of car

the nuts on my endlinks loosened up a little bit and wouldnt tighten or loosen cuz of the rust, so i used a pair of vice grips on the bolt itself and was i able to slowly back the nut off. that worked for 3 out of the 4, in which the 4th had to be cut off, luckily i had new moog ones ready to go on

i used an air impact and the nuts came off in a matter of 2 seconds. lol. next time use that.

i had in impact but everything was rusted enough where that didn't work on the endlinks, so i used the vice grip method with the impact and it worked great other than on one..

Vicegrips on the inside holding the bolt still works. I never got the rear bumpstops to fit even after filing them down so I just said **** it and never installed them. No problems so far
