Very impressive time for the Genesis given the shitty weather. I lost about .4 sec and 3mph in the insane 3500' DA we had here in St Louis at the track last week. 88 degrees, dew point of 79.

Most SS/SC were running 15s@ low 90s, and an SS/TC was running low-mid14s @ 97-98.

It was hot as hell and 75%+ humidity. Everyone will see this time and dismiss it as "Thats just what those cars run" but its an N/A car at 3200ft so lets be realistic. The Cobalt ran here stock at 500ft and bested a 14.05 @ 101. Tonight with gms1 he ran 13.658 @ 105.3. The two cars lined up once and the Cobalt won by .168. Videos and slips to come later. At a reasonable DA these cars would be near dead even in the 1/4. Don`t belive the hype, these Gen Coupes are a lot quicker than people are giving them credit for.
So...do I win something?

I'm interested in what the genesis can do on a day when it's 45 and sunny. The DA tends to be great on days like that as long as you're not at high elevation.

I for one actually like the Gencoupes. But at the same time, you just hate hate hate cobalts so much, that everything you said you were trying really hard not to give any credit to the cobalt.

The cobalt trapped 5mph faster. 5! And even if they were at a lower elevation, the cobalt would still have picked up mph ALSO. He wouldn't have just stayed at 13.6@105. He would run faster also. The only real chance that gencoupe had, was if the cobalt really fubarred the launch and slept at the light.

Not exactly true. The Cobalt was running 2-3 more lb's of boost than normal. My guess is that was to make up for how shitty the weather was. And it wasn't 5mph. It was 4mph and .26 ET.

If you correct the time with a DA Calculator the Cobalt is corrected from 13.6 @ 105 to 13.45 @ 106. While the Genesis is corrected from 13.922 @ 100.72 all the way down to 13.39 @ 104.9. The correction factors arent perfect, but what you're left with is 2 cars that at ZERO DA will perform VERY similarly in the 1/4.

We pinned this car to run a 13.55 @ 103.5 in 'good' conditions. At zero or negative DA I could see a 104-105 trap. The Cobalt just can't 60' like the the Genesis, and the Genesis just can't trap like the Cobalt. However the race (albeit still VERY close) should be even closer at sea level. Even with the huge disadvantage the Genesis was still within a quarter second of the GMS1 Cobalt.

Hey, I agree that the Gencoupe is a better performer than people give it credit for. Hell, I want one myself. They are really nice, RWD, the V6 sounds GREAT! and it's based off the VQ nissan motors.

BUT, doesn't change the fact that the LNF cobalt is a bit much to handle. If that was an aftermarket tune-only cobalt, it would be another 5 or so mph faster. And that's just a tune.

I didnt argue the 60' of the TC or the ETs of either car. Ive just yet to see a 3.8 Track break 102 at Temple or SAR is all.

Its just hooks and goes. I cant wait until fall to see what it`s really capable of. BTW there was a stock ss/tc at the track last night and his best time was 14.3 @ 100. He ran a few 14.4`s too.

2.08-2.13 is not impressive for a RWD.

I pull 2.09-2.15 consistently with my SRT on street tires.

Not impressive at all on a bone stock 3400lb car on stock tires. Especially not impressive because the car was down 30-35hp due to the horrible weather conditions.

I'd expect at least a 1.75 60' from RWD...

I'd be happy if my z28 pulled a 1.75 on my street tires lol. It won't

I really like my neighbors 3.8 track GC, i considered buying it from him cheap when he had a baby on the way. Came home one day and he had just traded it in for a new explorer(trade down imo) cause the wife demanded something more practical

There is a thread somewhere of modded Genesis Coupes and damn they look good with a nice set of wheels.

Careful when prodding SloShow.... He would bust out with the video of the balt beating the TC plus like 30 more of GC's beating a TC or something lol. He likes to make his point and stand by it.

LVD tends to suck on wed nights too. I bet even w/ the same horrible DA, that Gen could cut better 60's on a Saturday. They don't prep for **** on Wednesdays. I have yet to go on a reg T&T Sat, but I hear the prep is X10 better than Wed T&T...

Slo, any of those guys gonna be out next weds? I may be out there with the owner of Fast Motorsports doing a little tuning on my wife's TBSS and my car.
