08 Tc Sell or Dont Sell? After Being Totaled
Some of you might know that my 08 tc was totaled back in February. I now have a little dilemma and I would like to get you guys opinion. Now after insurance paid for it i was allow to keep it. Now they said it is totaled but i just think they didn't want to fix it. I been testing the car and everything seems to be fine on the car. ENGINE, TRANNY, Suspension electrical etc. The only thing seemed to be damage is the roof which is caved in to the point where you cant sit in it, the from bumper (body kit wise) and the right wheel which is bent. The sides, rear, and even the wing is still intact.....dont ask me how cause i have no idea.
Now i could easily knock the roof back in place and get some body work done to get it back to normal, and purchase a new front kit and have that installed, fix the right wheel (balljoint, tire rod, lug, tire, maybe the front struts) and put new windows in the vehicle, repaint and it will be back to normal. I did the numbers and i calculated it will cost me from $2000-$4000 for everything (at most, maybe less) since im doing the work myself except the windows and bodywork (which i have someone for that).
NOW........after its fixed, should i sell the vehicle? Or keep it?
if i sell it, can anyone give me an estimate of how much it will go for with and without being fixed? Iv already purchased a new vehicle and its paid for by GM. So i dont really need it.
I have a lil over 7k miles on it.

Either part it out or fix it to turn it into a racer.....you could gut the hell out of it, drop 500 pounds or so, get a tune and it would be a monster...
But realistically, parting it out is the most logical choice.

Yeah, you're simply better off parting the entire thing out. At the rate some of these guys are putting miles on their cars their warrenties will be out soon and I do beleive some of us didn't purchase the extended warrenty, like me. Ebay is QUITE lovely

Most insurance companies usually total a car if it will costs more 75-80% of the car value to fix. Let just say you car was worth ~20,000, that being said it would have cost at least 14,000 to fix it properly. And insurance companies are very cut throat.
I' not sure how you could fix and paint the car for under 4,000.
I think it would be easier to part out, and I am not just saying that because I am interesting in buying some of the parts. Less headache of fixing a badly damage car and selling a salvage car is tough.
If you decide to part it out, let me know. I'm in MI so you can't be that far away.

Keep in mind that the roof is a MAJOR structural component of the body of the car. If it is crushed in that far, I guarantee you have further major structural issues that you cant see. The correct way to fix it would be to cut the roof off, get the roof from another one, have it professionally welded back on, and get the car on a frame rack to get the rest of the car realigned.
Or turn it into a convertible . Really though, just part it out. Its not worth fixing - if the upper end of your estimates to fix it is $4000, DOUBLE that and you might be approaching what it will really take. Its like restoring a car. Always double or triple your best estimates, because it WILL cost that much more than you think.

lol if you can't sit in it from the roof being crushed in...that's MAJOR frame work...not even body work....
part it out...a salvaged title holds NOTHING...My friend bought a trans am ws6 salvaged for a little over 6k, even with a minor body work total from the insurance company...they go up to 20k used.
he basically paid the price for the working-well running ls1 and tranny
