No V8's . The Alpha is a small RWD chassis that will give Pontiac(tentatively) and Cadillac in the US ...small RWD drive sedans with ecotec and V6 engines . Its also the basis for next gen solstice and sky . Think in between a 1 and 3 series BMW for sizing .

Can't wait

I have only had my SS-2 since October of 07 and I am so pissed that I had no clue about the turbo model coming out! I would have just waited and got this better version! Oh well, I guess I will help keep Chevy in business and just go buy another one! Maybe I'll keep the SS-supercharged and have one of each!

This almost makes me with I didn't by my SC/SS last summer...almost. This car sounds like an even bigger bargain than the SC/SS. If I had more money on hand, I'd buy it, lol.

The Cadillac CTS, STS, and SRX (including the Vs) are all built on the Sigma platform as they have been since the intro of the original CTS. The G8, as well as the new Camaro when it launches, are built on the so-called "Zeta" platform which is recently introduced midsize rear-wheel-drive platform shared with Holden, GM's Australian company. Any other fun but completely unrelated inquiries???

Damn, I jsut bought my cobalt SS/NA in October last year. I ahve however been making extra peyments on it... but not enought to buy this thing by next year after tis been out for a year. I'll give it some time and if they introduce a better tranny then what I'm reading about I might have to go look at one.

They have done a bit of work to the new transmission. The clutch is much bigger than the previous SS. It's already the largest possible clutch that can fit inside the vehicle. They even had to downsize the flywheel to make room for the larger clutch. GM did 600 launches on the test car to prove that the car could hold up to the beating.

I don't have one yet, but mine is on order right now. I'm currently deployed to Iraq and I've done my homework.

The new Cobalt has amazing handling. It posted a time at nurbergring that was 16 seconds faster than any car in it's class. It beat out the Porsche 911 by 6 seconds. It truly is a great car.

Thumbs up Took a test drive

Well I went and test drove a black SS turbo Cobalt yesterday and I have to say it was pretty sweet! I liked hearing the turbo lift when letting off the gas in a high rev, how fast it spooled up, and how hard it accelerated! I really wish I could buy it, but with times the way they are now, it probably won't work out. - time will tell

i got to drive one friday and i must say, it doesn't seem any faster than the supercharged model. there is definatly a noticable lag in the turbo but if you do it right it can be pretty fast. but like i said it didn't really feel any faster than the supercharged model. i think the 0-60 times are only like 2 tenths of a second different arent they. but yes the blowoff while not very loud did sound nice.

SS/TC speed

Something else to keep in mind is the SS/TC has been performance tested to hit 150-155mph depending on the rear spoiler. As I understand it the SS/SC tops around 140mph or so...

I can't remember too well when I test drove mine. Does the Bypass valve have a nice whistle when you let off the gas?

Didnt feel faster

I too test drove the new Turbo and it did not feel any faster for an extra 55Hp ??? It did sound nice and handle better... I think i`am still going to get one but i think i will miss how the supercharger feels.
I think GM should of stuck with the supercharger with 260Hp ! AND no Recardo seat option ! Sucks

I think GM should have boosted the 2.4HO engine instead.... All I have heard from people around here who have test drove the turbos have said they are all lagging horribly

Now that I have had it for a while I notice it a lot. All my buddies say they can hear it too with their windows up. So good enough for me. Although I have a GMPP performance cat on order so I doubt I will be able to hear it spool up anymore after they install it.

The GMPP catback is too small for the turbo car, i would look at atleast a 2.5 inch exhaust . 3inch would probably be better .

You are smoking crack. The idea for this car was to eliminate turbo lag and torque steer. Your friends don't know what turbo lag is and are confused.

I agree that this car doesn't FEEL fast, but it is. There is perception and reality...

I agree that Chevy should have boosted the 2.4... Compete, well actually beat SRT-4's. There's no replacement, for displacement... Slap a nice turbo on a 2.4 ecotec & it will take out a lot of other cars!

ummmm, I own a 08 T/C......it does beat srt-4's and it also beats a lot of other cars. The car is fine the way it is.

I think not having plans for any stage kits for this cobalt is the stupidest idea GM could do. GM knows this is a tuner car, and after the explosion of the first generation cobalt and seeing the hype over making it even faster... im shocked they wouldnt design them again. They did before, so did Mopar, why not again? stupid...
