Another noise you will hear is, (and yes its normal) After you shut the car off anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds later you'll hear a faint whine then you'll hear the electronic throttle blade rehome itself. (you will hear the blade open and slap shut) Its normal with drive by wire throttles.

completely weirdly normal....
yes, this is a topic for many people, and this needs to spread out through all of us in the club of the 08 T/C. the clicking is from the D/I, but also because of the way the Eco 2.0 is timed, keep in mind, it has variable valve timing..... keep in mind, your car is new, keep in mind, it has one hell of a dangerously fast setup, so don't overdo your first 6,000 miles. minimum. also, if you watch youtube clips of these cars, you will notice that every one of these things clicks louder than the other, or some quieter.... because some of these guys are pounding these cars to death on the first few miles, and they are killing them. oh well, their problem. but yes, just take it easy, and read up on the timing, (variable valve timing) and some different computer setups for your D/I... shoudl quiet it down a lot. ight,?

i drove mine off the lot yesterday. yeah it ticks, but not loud at all. i figured it had something to do w/ the way it was built since it was ticking with only 15 miles.

I heard the clicking on the HHR SS and wondered about. But I knew in my head that is was something with the direct injection. The new traverse 3.6 v-6 does the same thing.

I Recently Bought A 2009 Ss Turbo Cobalt And It Keeps Being In The Shop, First Time I Had My Wire Harneses Burn't Threw, Then Twice My Oxygen Sensor Messed Up, And Once Reduced Engine Power Came On. Have Any Of You Had These Problems With Ur Cobalt?

It's new to a ton of people, but yeah, there are two distinct ticking sounds...injector is the very rapid ticking, and the secondary fuel pump is the one that sounds like a metronome. It's all good, though.

I made a baseline recording of the engine compartment - it sounds like 300 different clocks working at the same time. LOL.
The engine/fuel sound reminds me of the "C" Crusher weapon in Contra III: Alien Wars for the SNES.

I knew about the injector ticking sound but was just introduced to the fuel pump ticking sound yesterday after a few hard runs at the track...hadn't really heard it (or noticed it maybe) until yesterday... I will admit I was quite worried about it 'cuz I hadn't noticed it before... =)
Thanks for the info guys!
