Anyone try 5w-40?

I know it says to use 5w-30 synthetic but mobil one and other 5w-30 kinda burns quick... I used 5w-40 synthetic in my GTI (5w-30 recomended like the cobalt) and it worked great and never even lost an ounce since my next oil change. was wondering if anyone has used 5w-40 synthetic. Let me know please or have any suggestions besides mobil 1 5w-30.

Doesn't look like anyone here as tried fillin gup with just 5w-40. I wouldn't think it would hurt anything and it might be beneficial in hotter climates.

yea same here, I will give it a go then. It didnt hurt my GTI Engine, I think it will be okay with this. I just hate having to check my oil every damn 2 weeks to make sure its not burning up and have to put in half a quart everytime lol.
