Nice, okay. Yeah, welding the recirc fitting onto the HAHN CAI was going to be way easier than finding a spot on my K&N. I think its going to go between the MAF and the breather nipple. Mine is going to be a 1" hose from BOV to Intake. I posotioned the BOV on the injen CP well enough to where it its the shortest most ridrect route back to the intake.

Why so hard for the k&n?

Oh yea after I do all this and install the turbo I gotta limp the car 2 hours away to get tuned. Lol.

Just cause its so short LOL
The CAI had plenty of room to weld. Damn man, two hours? You should be okay as long as you dont go into boost much. The BOV+Turbo is really going to f**k with the car. Be easy in-between shifts.

I plan to. Im probably going to get a block off plate and run the bov recirculated on the stocker for a while so I know its working right. In theory if I recirculate the bov my car should run exactly like it does with the stock bpv.

And while driving to get tuned I will be in grandma mode.

Can't you get a base tune sent to you or something?? If it actually goes into "limp mode" you are going to have one hell of a frustrating drive. Hopefully it doesn't...but I drove all the way back from the track one time in limp mode (normally a 45 minute drive) and I wanted to kill myself

Lol. I will just cross my fingers. Maybe if Vince could give me a base Trifecta tune but that's all I can think of.

I don't have hptuners and area47 lives 2 hours away.

As long as I drive like a grandma and do NOT hit boost I should be ok untuned right?

For sure man. You will be fine. Especially cruising on the HWY, babying it and staying out of boost.

I once drove my car on GMS1 sensors without being tuned for them all the way from Humble TX to Sugar Land TX. It was an accident. I installed the sensors and vince sent me the file. I loaded it up and started driving home. Well, he sent me the wrong file for stock sensors. OMG lol the car was bucking like a wild bronco and kept trying to get into boost all by itself with the tinyest of throttle imputs.

Just set cruise. That would be safest.

What intake/MAF setup are you going to be running? Why are the tuning requirements so far different from your current setup that you won't be able to drive the car?

they wont be. my MAF will be in the same spot, and i will run a BOV recirculated back into the intake.

I have been trying to find some info on the 2860, why is it a flop? What numbers does it put down compared to the 2871?

The 2860 didn't perform any better than the stock turbo.

this.. it was determined it needed a new compressor cover to take advantage of it but then it made it pointless

Ah I see, thanks for the info, I have an extra K04 coming in and i was debating what to do with it.

You guys running the 2871, for the BOV setup are you venting to atmos., or recirculating? And does it matter which you use with this setup?

EDIT.... Nevermind I found the info on the other forum page

While driving in gma mode dont set the cruise unless you want your car hitting boost with it's own mind! I would imagine that if you hit a steep grade with cruise on untuned your car would bring on the boost/power and try to rev which is not what you want untuned! you can push rev's without hitting boost but the cruise isnt so easy about that! Good luck happy modding!

I remember in the other thread mention of getting replacement stock gaskets for the manifold connection since the BNR gaskets were not holding up. Does anyone have a source, or part numbers for that gasket, as well as the turbo-downpipe gasket?

I need those too. Also where does that black vacuum box on the stock k04 go on the bnr?

It doesnt really bolt up back to the BNR. I tok the bracket off the K04 and screwed it into an open hole in the corner of the head back by the intake. I then attached the WG solenoid there.

As far as the gaskets:

You want two of the 606 and two of the 609. Scroll down for the part number.

LOL If you look at a k04 you will see what Im talking about. Theres a metal bracket that is bolted onto the K04, that bracket is what the WG solenoid(the black vac box) clips on to. So I took it off the K04 found an open screw hole on the back of the head(near the top left hand corner) and bolted the bracket there and clipped the solenoid to it. It works like a charm so its not just ziptied or hanging loose somewhere.

Why would you need more than one downpipe gasket?

Because that round metal gasket isnt just for the DP. There is one at each end of that O2 housing, and what does the other end of the O2 housing connect to? Thats right, the exhaust side of the turbo LOL

Believe me, you DO NOT want a leak there! So replace it with a new one or you will regret it later on....ask me how I know
