Got in touch with BYT, looks like we'll start the install tomorrow evening. Tuning will happen sometime around Fri/Sat-ish

Wait what? You had a synapse kit (gt2871 and manifold and downpipe) and took it off and put the stock manifold and stock DP back on and then put on the bnr 2871?

Color me confused. Was this a spool issue with the synapse kit? Or some other issue with the synapse kit that made you want to get rid of it? Something wrong with the manifold?

Im happy with that, plus maybe the ZZP cams if they ever get released
Well I don't want the fastest car on the block, which realistically I'm not gonna get outta a Cobalt anyway. What I want is the sneakiest car on the block. That's what gets me through thick traffic quickly. And I want to do it as smoothly as I can. There's no organization or formality to it, but no one who commutes in thick traffic will deny that DD is some very competitive driving.

So far all I have is the GMS1, Injen CAI, Injen hotside. This is working for me right now. It is getting me to work in 10 min in traffic vs the 15 it used to take me in the Hyundai beater (it wouldn't have been so bad, but every driver on the road wanted to cut off the Hyundai, just so they could say they weren't driving the worst car on the road).

For DD I think I want the Stage 1 and a tune and nothing else. I love the stock exhaust because it's so quiet. But I don't know how the stock exhaust will play with the new turbo. Hoping it will leave me with a broader DD-style powerband than a more tuned exhaust, even if less peak HP. Any thoughts?

I think this is exactly what you will get. Exhaust upgrades on the T/C are a little more aesthetic than anything else. Although you probably would free up some peak HP with a larger exhaust on the bigger turbo. If keeping the stock exhaust seems good to you then Id at least get a catless or hi-flow catted downpipe, because it is restrictive. Especially going bigger turbo.

Did they reuse a stock TC Turbine Housing or remake their own? (Sorry, I didnt read thru the whole thread I admit.)

Any pics of the inlet of the Turbine Housing? Just curious if some porting there and on the manifold would be beneficial!

Yeah, as you go up in power, the restriction usually becomes the turbine/housing in a turbo car. That's part of why turbo cars can have a large exhaust installed on them and don't have to worry about lack of backpressure, for instance, since it already comes from the turbo's exhaust side. Most turbo cars will have their peak HP directly affected by any turbine / housing A/R restrictions. There's a balance between peak HP and response though.

Since K04 to GT2871 is a good step up in flow, we may start finding that the stock turbine side or the downpipe/catback becomes a restriction.

Could you tell us how much space we are looking to make up on the UICP, from the Turbo to the UICP? Almost looks like a 6-8" re-enforced coupler might work there.
about 3 inches. he has the dejon ic piping that has that lil elbow that comes off the turbo so that should help but we will find out here in a lil bit

Word is that they reused the stock exhaust side and machined it to fit the wheel as well as improve flow (possibly ported already?).
