So in theory the 2860 should make more whp then the stock K04 and keep making power higher up in the rpm band where the K04 drops off.

We aren't talking huge whp gains, but there should be some there none the less and you should be able to maintain it higher in the rpm band.
I know this is the cobalt site and talking about BNR turbos.

but when you mentioned about a kappa making 370whp using 2871 BNR turbo, I then provided the dyno graph tuned by DDM.

and I provided statements by DDM talking about 2860 (320whp) and 2871 (370whp) on a kappa platform.

yeah, 2860 making 320whp on a kappa platform is very realistic.

Which I was talking about

Yeah, 2860 on a cobalt platform, will probably be around 340-360whp depending on the tune/dyno....and probably 2871 on a cobalt platform will probably be around 370-400whp, depending on the tune/dyno

So does anyone know how this might compare to the "LNF Big Wheel Turbo" for the GXP and if it would work on the Cobalts? Looks like we may have some great options for turbo upgrades, can't wait for the dyno on the stage 1 and 2.

What are the chances of blowing my pistons with this upgrade? I've noticed some of you guys have replaced them.

lnf big wheel turbo, is just an upgraded bigger compressor wheel.

BNR turbo upgrade is a total replacement of both turbo and compressor wheels with either gt2860 or gt2871 garrett turbos.

On the contrary. This turbo will get us the power we want while still being efficient and not out of its efficiency range like pushing the K04 to the max. That combined with a good tune and you should be fine. Dont severely mess up an NLS while on the tune pushing that much power and you should be fine....if you even NLS at all.

The ones that have replaced them was either out of necessity or because they were building their engine or just for plain old peace of mind, like me lol

Its certainly safer to push the engine further with forged internals

Not needing to replace internals, another plus side to this swap. Although id like to get the zzp valve springs.

The stage 2 bnr it says you need a custom hotside charge pipe and spacer. Anyone no anything about this? Can you mod a charge pipe you have? What about this spacer?

Im pretty sure they fixed the need for a new charge pipe. They're welding an extended tip on em now. Not sure for the spacer tho?

Dont forget that you will want the retainers as well. Thats why ZZPs kti cost less, cause the retainers arent included. The retainers are an extra 90 bucks from them. Still cheaper than supertech.

Its a good move to upgrade them nonetheless.

I'm running stock retainers with my ZZP valvesprings. You don't actually need to change the retainers to run ZZP springs unless you are running quite a bit more lift than the stok cams provide.

Thats great! Speaks well for your spring kit
Its just a suggestion to people. Alot of members have voiced their interest in your new cams anyways. If your going to open her up to work on the springs you may as well replace the retainers too. Some of us rather not go back in to replace something that may fail later on
