The coverage is so different in Canada. My liability limits on my policy are $2,000,000. Probably high but I won't have to worry if I am ever sued.

WOW, If my insurance was that much for my SS/TC I'd cry. I think I pay about $80 a month with $250 deductibles. I'm 22 with no accidents or tickets.

Its different in every state i think. In CA minimum state liability is 15k I'm pretty sure. I pay about 180 a month for my balt and my burb. The suburban has the minimum insurance. Like I'm going to hurt a 7,000 lbs suburban if I hit anything anyways.

That is why insurance is so high, and goes up on these cars.

I payed 106 a month when I lived in north Carolina. When I moved up to new York in instantly went up to 171 a month.. When my new policy came out it was 220 a month.. This was all threw gieco, when I called them they wouldn't give me an answer to why it went up again bc I have a clean record.. So I went through an agency that finds you the best insurance rate, so they now have me with progressive payin 126 a month and I have 100/300k coverages

Yup, same thing happened to me.

Insurance for 2 cars (my beater and cobalt) was $620/6 mo

They just requoted me for my next 6 months: $850!

I called and asked since I had no points, vioplations, etc. since the last quote.

They said on an A to Z scale (Z being the most expensive) - the SS went from an "F" to an "S" hence the rate hike.

I told her that doesn't make much sense to me how one car can be one thing one year and another the next. She didn't have much of a response.

I'm in the process of shopping right now.

for everyone that says this, of course there is something you can do about it. drive a grownup car that isnt something ricky racer would drive and rates are completely normal. i pay 1100$ a year on my balt because ive got a 2.2. when i shopped around even mustang gt's had lower rates than the ss. you might be the most mature person in the world driving an ss but the insurance company lumps you in with the rest of the idiot lemmings that buy the car too.

that was something i came to realize when i was car shopping saturday. i looked at a decent 4cyl fusion that got 31mpg but then right next to it was a basic v6 stang for 31mpg. i was pondering why get the boring 4cyl family car if i could have a mustang and still get decent mileage for the same price. upkeep and insurance on the stang would have made an 100$ a month difference. and tires were way more. and i wouldnt be able to keep the stang stock so thats more mone.

you can leave insurance companies whenever you want.

they'll refund you the difference (if you paid in full) from the date you left until when your policy was supposed to end.

Insurance companies CANNOT make you STAY with them! That's blasphemy!

Go down to what? 100 bucks already sounds ridiculously low. I need to switch to your insurance company.

My parents have an 2006 Mercedes SL55 AMG and an 2010 Mercedes E350 and the insurance on my Cobalt SS is higher than the insurance for both of those cars and I'm not even the primary on my Cobalt SS (I'm primary on a 1997 Toyota Tacoma). Explain that

I went online to check my account tonight since I think its time for my policy to be renewed as well, it said "this account can not be accessed at this time, call your local agent for more information"... has never happened before, i'm probably about to get fucked on this as well, lol

only good news is i'm 25 so i'm past that stage of absolute screwing by insurance companies

I'm 23 got 2 speeding tickets and still only paying 900 a year on my SS with Geico. They might have some cheaper rates here in MA though because they just started selling insurance here.
