Injector Seal Tool Loan Program

When I bought my LDK I also bought the special tool used to put on the injector seals. When I bought it for a ridiculous amount of money I thought that there is a better way to do this. What if I set up a loan program where if you want to rent it then you pay a deposit, I send it to you, you do the work and send it back, and I give most of your money back? Obviously I'd have to keep the money used for shipping and a few bucks to make it worth my time. Would anyone be interested or think that it's a good idea?

K, offered.

I have the EN 49245 tool. It's the tool made for putting on the injector seals for double-sealed injectors, which means it comes with two cone-things. The ID's are the same for this tool as the LNF-specific tool, so it works perfectly on the LNF seals. I didn't mess up a single seal when installing mine. I'll put a how-to soon with some better detailed instructions for those who might need it.

If you want to participate, I'll take a $80 deposit + shipping + $5. When I get the tool back you'll get the $80 back. I'm located in PHX, AZ.

You need to charge a real fee.

Like $50 refundable. Plus a $25 non refundable.

I don't know how much the part is worth, but someone will scam you for $55.

Especially with no rental contract.

Or just do a $100 refundable. Most people will ship it back to get their $100 back.

I bought it for $53. If someone keeps it then I'm fine at $55; the other option was to sell it. I figure it's probably average $5 to ship each way, so total invested by the renter is ~$15.

The big issue is that these don't come up for sale all the time. I got lucky to get the one I have when I needed it. The other options for sale were $80+ for used. That's also why I risked getting the non-LNF-specific tool (i did see a post elsewhere from Mongo saying he used this tool so I felt is was a risk worth taking). Maybe I should bump up the refund price just to prevent everybody in the future from being shafted a tool (including me if I need it again).

Seems like a lot of trouble for an 80 dollar tool. I blew 110 bucks at the bar last night.

If i don't get takers in the next couple months I'll probably sell it. And $80 is the used price...

Still a few more have asked but no one has borrowed it. Is the deposit too high, or are you just buying one yourself? I'd like to loan it out to help others save themselves some money, but the tool doesn't do anyone any good (esp. me) just sitting at my house. Not only would it save money, but I figured that these tools aren't always available so this would be a fairly consistent way of knowing that you can get ahold of one in a reasonable amount of time. I'll have to sell it off soon if I don't get any takers.

We really appreciate you offering to help. Not a lot of people really need the tool though.

But leave the thread running just in case.

Also, something that I overlooked: if you send the PayPal monies through goods and services rather than friends/family with the fees then I'll take the fees off of the deposit refund. I am 100% OK with sending it this way (I would too). Thanks!
