CudaJoe, I was just giving you a bit of a hard time. Seriously though, you are a great sport. I also really appreciate all the info you and others are giving us about this intake. I was ready to spend the money but now after reading all of this, I'm having second thoughts. I want to see how this pans out for you guys that have already put them on and are now working out the kinks.

Thanks again. Still laughing at how you got to AM instead of PM. GREAT STUFF!!

theres the intake sitting in my car without the charge piping... I still need to get a better photo of that. But you can see that the sensor is pretty close to the heat shield, kinda bugged me. so I took it apart and put it back together so it had a tad bit more room. I dont have a photo of that though.

heres a closer photo of the sensor near the heat shield.

its literally touching the foam but not the metal behind the foam, lol.

If I had any advice to some one installing this. before putting in the heat shield and tightening down the mount, put in the intake to see where it aligns. then put in the heat shield and see where it sits in relation to the heat shield. then tighten the mount down and put the heatshield in then install the intake.

LTFT's for today's trip to work.

On start up, ltft's were at -0.7

after 10 miles they went to -1.5

then after 20 miles they went to -2.3
then when I got to work they were at -1.5

is it the photo of where the senor is lying in relation to the heat shield? lol. It scared me cause I know the engine moves and the intake is bolted to the engine so I was worried the intake would be pushed into the heat shield. There is enough room to make minor adjustments to get more room though.

second guessing and skeptical of what? dont just say that and not state why. The trims look good on a stock tune, so you dont even "have" to tune for it if you are stock or gmstage 1 and they are even better than most the intakes out, hell its probably the best intake at this point.

EXACTLY! There is proven data supplied in this thread yet some idiots can't see past their nose on this issue. The fuel trims look excellent, and hell it appears you can even slightly tune them to your liking. K/N makes quality stuff and this intake has not dissappointed in my eyes. Just saying you are skeptical makes you look like an idiot. Are you skeptical of the information provided? Or are these people just bandwagoners that are threatened there might be an alternative to their favorite intake?

I just found myself a place that has this in stock. Am I still going to have to call K&N to get the part I need since my car doesn't have the plate?

yeah, I havent checked mine yet; but I assume they'll make your show proof of purchase or the s/n off the intake to get the revised bracket sent out.

There's a trying-to-be-a-supporting-vendor-on-here vendor... on here... that has them. lol

If you don't know who it could be, shoot me a PM. They have over half a dozen left at a very reasonable price.

To sum it all up, we would need a "before and after" dyno test on a tuned car with no other modifications, then another run a couple of days later on the same dyno with similar outside air temps and humidity to see if gains are maintained.
In my opinion, if gains are maintained >10 whp somewhere in the powerband I'm buying it!

k&n did a dyno, although in a odd gear. not many members want to pay for a dyno of just 1 modification.

I think it's pretty much assured that this will flow better than stock. It's shorter, wider piping, no accordion (disrupts flow), fewer turns, and more filter surface area. That coupled with good fuel trims makes this one a winner. Short of the Vararam intake, I don't think it'll get much better than this one overall.

For those that are worried about SRIs: I've also got some intake air temp (IAT1) tests I'm going to do. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve that could make this even better, such as a modified heat shield.

New AEM intake has better fuel trims so far they are better than the stock airbox with the stock filter.
