New to me LNF - I think it's tuned. how to tell?

I just bought an 09 LNF Sedan. been reading a lot.

I noticed today that it was making 20-25psi on the interstate. (3rd, 4th gear pull) In the lower gears it makes around 15 psi.

How can i tell if it is tuned and what tune is in it?

thanks!

Try to contact the original owner. His name should be on the title.

Can the car lot put you in touch with him? If you have the money just go get it tuned so you know what you have. Wouldn't push it hard in case it was setup for other fuel than what you are running.

Get some kind of scanner for your car. Either a cheap bluetooth OBD2 scanner off amazon or similar.

You need to be watching your fuel trims to see where they are at.

I have the torque app and logged afr, knock, etc and it seemed good.

12:1 afr and 0 knock.

Didnt trend fuel trims though.

12.1 would translate to 0.82 lambda. Sounds like Trifecta tune. Which many consider to be too rich for the LNF.

Stock and GMS1 is closer to 0.87-0.88 at higher RPMs. Or 12.8 AFR

On your Torque app, add the GM predefined list under settings. Then add Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 1 to your display. You want your LTFT to be close to 0

I read somewhere that one of the tunes can switch to a different tune through the cruise control button.

Could that be why my cruise doesn't work?

No GMS1 runs very lean. 0.95 in lower rpm and 0.87 range at upper rpm full throttle.

Yesterday driving home from work i noticed my boost was limited to 4-5psi. no CEL. Car seemed to be running fine, just limited to 5psi.

I pulled the codes when i got home. P0236 is pending.

After doing some research, I have the blue MAP sensors. (GM 3 Bar, right?) My top sensor looks to be soldered already. the bottom one looks to have crimp connectors.

I went for a short drive this morning. It's making full boost again, but now has an erratic idle.

I'm going to start with soldering the TMAP sensor wires.

Also, the PCV system seems weak for a turbo car and i'm reading about a lot of oil in the intake issues. I'll probably pull the TB and clean it, as well as the MAF sensor. If i find oil, i'll go ahead and get a catch can on order.

Upon closer inspection, the TMAP looks to be soldered too.

I cleaned the maf and upper map sensor with brake clean. Both seemed dirty.

Afterwords, i was dealing with a little knock at part throttle. This cleared up within a few miles, but did set misfire codes on 3 and 4.

I cleared the codes after the knock quit. It now seems to make 22ish psi, 0 knock, and 13.9:1 afr. That seems stupid lean to me, but im new to direct injection. Runs good and no knock.

These cars love to knock under part throttle. I can't remember if you have an intake

You should probably get a new tune.

You are on the right track with p0236 and the lower MAP sensor

now that sounds more like gms1 tune. invest in hp tuners, get a good tuner on here to tune you, will make it run better than gm does.

do not buy a catch can man. its a waste of money on these cars. get yourself a powell pcv system. its so much more effective then a catch can. also while your at it, one way to clean your valves is to walnut blast them. you do that and then hook up the powell pcv system youll be good to go.

Did you apply credits for your particular car? I have never setup a new car. Mine was used and already had my car year unlocked.

As for reading the VCM, The only time I have issues is if I get in and close and open the door. Or if I turn the car on and off. It will sometimes lock you out.

If it reports no connection, unplug the USB and plug back in. If it can't get past the security lock, try closing the door and opening or turning key to Run, off and back to run. It's a weird combo of opening the door and key position.

Also, make sure to open VCM editor and do a Full Read of your car and save that tune as a backup in case you screw up.
