Question Newbie - need help

I'm new to the cobalt world and I'm actually looking at these 2 cars but i'm a bit confused.

whats the difference in them? they are both 2009 cobalt SS models and besides the color difference of silver and black the silver one has the higher spoiler option and it has the rectangular digital gauge on the a pillar while the black one has a round boost gauge (non-digital)

please give me some advice on these 2 cars, appreciate it!

-J

silver

black

get the silver one. The square thing you speak of is called a RPD. It's awesome and i wish i had one

also check to see which one has LSD (option is G85). That is VERY important

to be honest i was leaning towards the black ss because i've always thought black was soooo clean (when its clean lol) but i have thing for silver (thats the color of my z28)

so i'm torn, it basically comes down to color unless the silver one does have more options. my camaro is silver so that means i already like silver..but then that also makes me want something different. i'm just trying to get opinions and insight

I appreciate all the help guys, i'm use to f-bodies and not use to anything smaller than a v8. i have a great appreciation for any car that looks good and packs a punch

get the one with the small spoiler... because people don't think its a "real" SS with the small wing, and its quite funny to see their reaction when you run your "fake" SS....lol

when I bought my car the low rise spoiler was a must, I actually could have had my car about a week earlier if I would have wanted a high rise

whats g85 and whats so special about it?

how do i tell?

i'm still split 50/50 but if the silver one does have more options then i'll be going for that one..its cheaper than the black one (not by much)

G85 is the LSD. Codes are listed on the option spec sheet below the trunk carpeting on the left side.

so theres no other way to check out the spec options besides going to the dealer and asking to lift the carpet?

LSD stands for Limited-Slip Differential. It's a mechanical device which diverts torque from a slipping front wheel to the one with more traction, greatly improving your handling.

The silver car has more options provided it has the G85. The screen it has is the RPD (Reconfigurable Performance Display) which not only shows boost, but also shift lights and a HUGE range of diagnostics and figures (i.e. IATs, knock retard, spark advance, etc.) It's a VERY cool little device.

Provided the Silver car has the LSD like I said, if you want more options, that's the one to buy.

Black is hard as **** to keep clean...I wish i would've gotten silver...plus black is really common. Just make sure they have the Limited slip option...that ones the key

I would hope that a dealer that ordered a SS with a RPD and high rise would also opt for LSD...if not they're idiots.

And even if it was no options, no LSD is still stupid. LOL.

Just make sure both cars have the LSD. A TC without it is worthless. Good luck re-selling it, too... I know I wouldn't buy one without the proper diff. Open diff FTL

Go with the silver if mileage and price are comparable.

thats your best bet is to call and ask them to look before you go out..and then double check when you get there...but they should be able to find it on the options list on the window sticker

so if they have traction control system listed as an option on the car, thats not the LSD right?
