No lift shifting?

Is the no lift shifting good to do in just competitive mode when racing. I haven't done a no lift shift on my car yet and just wanted to get ideas on when its actually ok to do it. Just don't wanna mess the car up.

you can do it in any mode... why havent you tried it yet? Its safe for the car and fun!

shift at 6000rpms. <-- best spot.

dont 1 - 2 gear NLS. you can do it, but I think that would be most stressful on the car.

If you're racing from a dig or at the track you had better do it...otherwise you'll bog 2nd so bad it'll feel like you stalled.

NLS 1-2 at 5800 RPMs so you don't bog. I've learned this on the track and street. works wonders.

Ok, thanks for the insight everyone. Yeah, as my friend calls it seems like factory approved power shifting, I guess thats why I was a little edgy about but will try it now. Probably not today in the rain though.

well kinda. power shifting is w/o the clutch and when you NLS you use the clutch. so basically its a safe way to full-throttle shift, using the clutch

Wait what? Powershifting is not without the clutch, it's the same as a NLS only in the TCs case the ECM cuts spark for a brief moment allowing you to complete the shift without the RPMs continuing to rise and thus you do not hit the rev-limiter.

I can't get 1st gear to hook up enough to even attempt a NLS from 1-2 I need to go tire shopping.

who says you can't NLS with a tune, and why? Everyone who I know who has a tune loves NLSing, I do it and with my dp and exhaust it sounds like a blockbuster going off! My friend tom thought he has a blow out last night when I did it from 3rd to 4th on the highway and I was like 5+ cars ahead of him by then

I'm assuming Tom with the same car you have?!?!

Stress on the clutch and flywheel with the extra torque, I'm not tuned yet though so I can't speak, nor have I been in a tuned TC.

i was under the impression that power-shifting, didnt fully depress the clutch and was more like slamming your gears, but whatever. it is what it is. i wouldnt consider NLS a powershift by any means...just a limited full-throttle shift

Hmm, that would be another concern, how ofter is it that the shift linkages break? One problem I've seen arise on here alot.
