F#KN PADS!!! GM NEVER shoulda used these POS pads! The set up wasn't designed for them..unless they were somehow defective. I just don't understand why this problem didn't surface in testing and development??? It's such an obvious problem, I don't see how anyone at GM coulda missed this????

Heck on my 09 SS sedan my rear driver caliper is frozen so now I'm in process of hunting down a replacement on short notice and my local parts stores cant get them as of now, I really pissed off because I complained from day 1 of owning the car to the service rep and they kept telling me it was supposed to be like that and I've worked on enough cars and trucks to know better. so now I'm pretty screwed over with parts closed on Sunday and work Monday morning and no way around to get parts to fix it.

Three days after I bought my 2010 Victory Red SS I removed the rear pads and bought ceramic from Pep Boys. So far, no grinding and no squeal/ squeak at all.
I'm pretty happy with my "Pep Boys" ceramics.....

Is the caliper stuck on the slide pins or will the piston not retract??
You do realize the pistons must be rotated to retract them right...

Easy fix....change to standard (either ceramics like I have or Semi metallic) pads and either turn the rotors or replace them. Replacing them is cheap. Yeah..lubing can't hurt, but that's not the real culprit here. I posted a pic of the Volvo Caliper..same as ours...with NO LUBE on it. They don't have this problem....same with Mazda3 and Saabs.

If you have the TC then replace the pads. I would also turn the rotors unless they are VERY SMOOTH. Cost almost as much to replace em as turn em. I paid $111 shipped from Rock Auto.. You can get the Wagner Ceramic Pads (Saab pads) QC1095A from them too..around $40. I have em on now.

Filed today since I absolutely must have something new on at least one of the rears.. May get R1's and Hawks anyways, but still... these already should've been recalled before the bloody steering issue, of which I only ever felt once and it was minor anyways.. wtf?

Just replace the rotors and pads...it's a waste of time to file on this. I could have had the dealer handle this, but I'd rather do it right...both pads (ceramic) and new rotors. Cost me $150 total. If you want to have somone do it, add another $75 or so. Peanuts...and it's done right.

i no no one has posted on this in a little while, but i just recently bout and 09 ss, after owning it for 3 days thought my e-break was just loose i took it in and the said my calipers were bad, said they would fix it under warranty, a week later still no calipers, still waiting on ONE caliper. they have one of them in stock but cant find another for it. they have had my car longer then i have now in the last 2 weeks.

I was tired of the squeak and finally gave up trying to get it fixed. Went to 2 different dealers and both showed me a bs bulletin saying brake noise is normal on a high performance braking system and to not do anything. I was like what performance brakes are on the rear?
Sooo........R1s and Hawks!!! no more noise
I still need to put the fronts on

i bought mine used 25k miles and both the fronts and rear were gone rotors chewed up dealer i took it to was like you raced it causeing them to fail, note dealer i bought from is not dealer i took it to. i was told this by 4 different dealers, i work for a ford dealer and they had a recall on the 500/montego rear breaks just for the pads wearing fast. these rear calipers are a bad design wish they would have just done brembos

its unacceptable. My 09 SSTC has 27300 miles on it and just had the dealer I bought the car from replace the rotors and pads, the rear brakes were scored up pretty bad and the inside pads prematurely wore out while the 'outside' ones wore normal. Completely unacceptable in a 20,000$+ vehicle. Too bad the Gov't hasn't issued a recall for them.
