Revised Fresh Air Tube (connects to air intake tube) slices through O-ring

I bought the revised fresh air tube (the one that connects between the camcover and air intake tube) and the very first attempt to connect it to the nipple on the air intake hose, the nipple cuts the O-ring. The revised tube, to me, isn't as good of a design as the original because there's no way to rotate the plastic portion that connects to the nipple. It only goes in 1 way basically, and the nipple happened to slice right through that O-ring.

Does anyone happen to know the specs of that O-ring? It looks like I can replace it by removing the plastic clip. Otherwise, I'm basically out $35.

FWIW I am running the K&N SRI, and never had a real issue with the original tube other than it seemed like a tight fit. The revised tube changes the angles a bit, but it is also a tight fit, just in a different area.

It's a GM part.

I found my answer, Viton 904 O-rings 75A durometer. I was able to pull the bad O-ring out with a needle. Installing the new O-ring shouldn't be too bad.

GM updated the design, but personally the original design works quite well with the ZZP upgraded air tube, so I haven't bothered with it.

I tried again to install the updated design, but it is a very very tight fit to the point it won't go onto the nipple. The old design slips right on with the same sized O-ring. GM must have changed the dimensions or something. They also just used heat shield wrapping around a rubber hose, instead of a SS braised hose. Bottom line is that I don't recommend the updated design.

I think the updated tube is only good if you have a stock intake boot and need to take stress off that nipple. If you have a silicone boot, the nipple can handle the braided hose tension.

I think I understand that now. I'm running the K&N SRI which has its own polymer nipple fitting that seems to be easily replaced with something like brass or another K&N fitting if it ever breaks.
