Stock k04 flow rate?

I search but could not find the info I was looking for...

How much air does our turbo move? and don't tell me 15psi worth....

Stock is 15 psi worth. My turbo is 22 psi worth.

At sea level 70* temps and 24 psi. The max flow is 36 lbs/min SAE at 24 psi. It will flow 34 lbs/min SAE at 22 psi.

OP... this is the answer you seek...

Did some math, and with the help of a member on here, produced this, with the bottom now being airflow instead of the units Borg-Warner used.

X-Axis is airflow. Y-Axis is pressure ratio. (Pressure ratio: 1 = 14.7psi atmospheric pressure, or 0psi boost. Basically, to find boost pressure, multiply the Pressure Ratio x 14.7 and then subtract 14.7 from the result.)


As an example, you can flow ~19.32 lb/min (labeled on the x-axis) of airflow at ~11.76psi (1.8PR on the y-axis x 14.7 = 26.46psi... -14.7 for atmospheric pressure... = 11.76psi boost) with a ~78% efficiency.

To figure out Pressure Ratio the formula is 14.7+ Your Boost / 14.7

So if your pushing 23lbs of boost then your PR is 14.7+23/14.7= 2.56..

That is pretty much wrong. I did some researches since I have this car, speaking with turbo companies and especially those rebuilding stock turbos which have some info. There are plenty of K04 models.

For example:
Audi S3 8p - K04 (don't know the model exactly) flows around 35-36 lbs easy while LNF flows only around 32 lbs as general value
Opel (Vauxhall) Astra OPC (VXR) - don't know the max airflow but it can't come close to 300 crank hp, the model is: 5304-970-0049 This turbo has same repair kit mentioned in specifications as our turbo so it has same internals, even so this turbo doesn't come close to our turbo performance.

Our turbo:
Turbo part no. 5304 970 0059
Service turbo no. 5304 988 0059
Model spec.: K04-2277DCB437.98GGAXX


So KD04-025 is no where near our turbo. I would love to have a compressor map for our turbo but I doubt that is from our turbo. As long we don't know 100% the correct info we can do more harm than good.

If you've got specs or some other map for ours that are "correct", then post them up by all means. This is what I found when I went out looking for the flavor of k04 used in the LNF.

I'd be happy to do the flow conversions to whatever people post up as well.

That is not our compressor map. The first one you posted is correct. There is only one K-04 that flows more than ours and it has the wheel the BTF uses in his conversion kits. The big wheel K-04 flows 3-4 lbs/min more than ours at 37-40 lbs/min at 22-24 psi vs our at 33-36lbs/min at 22-24 psi. Corrected flow on my logs consistantly shows 33-34 lbs/min at 22 psi and 35-36 lbs/min at 24 psi.

If I would have the correct compressor map and be sure about it I would share it for the LNF community. But I don't have it and I hate to base on not confirmed information.

Not having the clearly correct one doesn't mean we should get first one which we find and state this is the one.


Terminator check tuned Audi S3 8P, that is more potent turbo than ours and is still a K04.

To my knowledge, it was the correct one. That's why I posted it. I didn't post it because it was any old k04 map.

To what I said earlier: I'm open to me making a mistake on something, and if you had what you thought was the correct one, that clearly needs to be posted up for everybody's benefit and I'd be happy to admit my mistake.

On the wheel size topic: I seem to remember BTF stating that we had the 3rd largest. There was ours, another one (possibly this Audi A3 one Kelu mentioned... wasn't said in BTF's original post), and then the k04+ wheel.
