Straight pipe question..
So back in December I took my 09 sstc to have it fully straight piped. Before I straight piped it I had a Hahn cai. And before that I had a muffler delete.. Now, my car was pretty loud with just a muffler delete. Then a few weeks later I put the intake in. I noticed the sound was a tad different. It didn't have the loud pop I usually got. I figured it was due to the air/fuel skewed. Then a few months after cai I did the Hahn catless dp removed the res and had a shop weld a full 3"in all the way back. Not muffler.. Nothing. (Flame suit on) I can't even shoot a flame which these cars can with the set up I have. Also I have gm stage 1 but this was put on when the car was stock by the previous owner. I wanna do I trifecta tune. Will my exhaust be louder with the tune. I figured it would since it would fix my air/ fuel. Thanks for reading this essay lol. Any help is appreciate.

I'm not sure if your exhaust will be louder, but the reason your popping went away is probably because your intake is leaning out the engine so there is less unburnt fuel exiting your tail pipe and "popping" when it ignites. Also, the only way our cars "shoot" flames is if you no lift shift, where the engine retards the timing enough that it is dumping out half burnt fuel. Depending on how aggressive you get your tune, it probably won't bring back your popping because Trifecta probably won't tune your car to be as rich as the GM tune.

Hmm, good to know. Everyone on this forum used to regurgitate the same old "GMS1 is pig rich blah blah blah get a real tune", so I just assumed GMS1 was just on the rich end of tunes for this car. I'm not a tuner so I don't have evidence to support one theory or another.

All my cars shoot flames at some point or another. The Cobalt did it on shifts if I hit the limiter. The Z does it usually when letting off after a nitrous pull, nice solid flames from both sides according to everybody who's seen it. Gotta get a vid of it soon...
