Tofu + SS/TC = ?

Maybe purchasing a SS/TC tonight but have a quick couple of questions:

1. What's been the overall consensus on the Sedan vs. Coupe performance? Weight difference seems minimal, but I'd assume the coupe would edge out the sedan given equal drivers. I really do want a sedan, but if the room in the back is slim to none, then it may not be worth it.

2. Are most of you G85 packaged owners custom ordering them? Or have you bought them from a dealer? I can't find any in my area with G85 unless it's fully loaded...And I refuse to pay for a sunroof.

3. What are most of you guys paying off the lot for a new Cobalt SS/TC? With my company discount it's around 20k with no negotiations.

Thanks folks!

1. There isn't much of a difference for you to notice. Either way they'll both be a blast to drive!

2. If you order a g85 without sunroof from the dealer than you can kiss most discounts goodbye. I wanted one without the sunroof, but didn't want to pay $3,000 more dollars for a car that has $695 is less options!! I sucked it up and just purchased the one with the roof. I had some creakage from the rubber seals, but I waxed the inside tracks and pain and I sprayed some wd-40 and a paper towel and rubber along the rubber and every creak went away.

3. 20k is a good deal. I bought mine FULLY LOADED (except high rise and sport tint red) and I got it for $21,100. Your deal seems pretty good to me.

yeah sure has been a while

If you really want the sedan, just go for it. The weight difference is negligible.

Looked it up:

Sedan = 2780 lbs.
Coupe = 2730 lbs.

1. Really don't think you will notice it at all.

2. I have an 08 i found at the dealer with LSD and no sunroof.

3. 21,xxx out the door is what i paid. 20k for an 09 is a good price.

Most of the places around me order them with G85 and a sunroof. I love my sedan and there seems to be TONS more head room in the rear and that seems to be the problem with people not wanting to ride in the back of the coupes. There is 0 performance difference in HP/TQ and only like a 60lbs weight difference. The only things I didn't like when looking for a sedan is that GM won't put the RPD option in the sedans, and that you can only get the gray seat inserts and nothing else. They don't look bad but I have a black car and wanted black inserts. I have been looking for someone to trade but no takers. At first the sedan tail lights really bugged me in the looks department, but I must say they have really grown on me. I am amazed at how few people outside of this site knows about the SS/TC sedan it seems to boggle there mind how fast it is. 9 out of 10 times people ask me what kinda car it is, but I do have all my badges shaved and a tune. I understand about not wanting a sunroof but don't let that make your decision. Even with all the rattles they do have good points and times of fun. If you do get the rattles the dealer can fix them and you won't ever know its there if you keep the cover closed.

The Sedan is the best of both worlds man... Real World practicality, and it's quick ta'boot!

There is plenty of room in the sedan, I have had 4 grown men in my car, all with plenty of leg room, everyone of them said it was comfortable for our 45 minute drive!

mine was G85 from dealer, sunroof, low rise wing, XM, onstar, and the sound system of course.
i have a feeling most 09s are G85... not sure though
mine was a little less than 22,000ish off the lot... i want to say.

and the 4doors dont have a rear lip... looks weird at first but i kinda like it now.

I got mine for 23k out the door, with a little rollover from my 06 LSJ.... But it's well worth it. Got a baby on the way, and it's just a more refined cobalt than before!

Damn... 1 year of sedans. That's nuts...

I got an 08 (coupe obviously)
20,9xx out the door. Sunroof, high rise, LSD.
No dealers around me had any, so I just told them what I was looking for and they searched other dealers. Made a trade with one and brought my Cobalt to me.

Sedan is the way to go! I got mine from the dealer with the sunroof and the differential. I also knowtice that the sedan has more head room in the front seats over the coupe as well! The only thing your not gonna get is the RPD that you can get on the coupe. But your not missing out, lol.

There arent many sedans out there as is now, help increase our numbers! and dont wreck it cause Im sure it will have value down the road since there arent many and there only being made for 09.

got mine for $20,400 after $2000 trade-in and employee discount and cash incentive. got 4.24% financing and im looking at $379/month for 5 years

Hey thanks for the input fellas, I really appreciate it. I drove a SS/TC sedan yesterday and was definitely impressed, but I really would like to have the G85 package this time around. Oddly enough it felt like it had just as much passenger space as my C32 AMG haha, that definitely impressed me.

I'm tempted to follow what some of you said and ask them to locate one to my liking, hopefully we can come to an agreement.

You drive an econobox with a turbocharged motor, it's nothing special. It's definitely not going to ever be valuable. Let's be honest folks, in 10 years our cars will be less than the current contents of our wallets
