Valve cover replacement

Looking to replace my stock valve color on the lnf with a powder coated valve cover. Just wondering what the torque specs are on the bolts and if I need any other info on doing it, was unable to locate any of this info on the forums!
Thanks

89 in/lbs - 10Nm; 7.42 fl. lbs. when rounded up. Finger-tight, man.

I found that as a source.

Cut the one butted up against the VC. MAYBE you can fit a few picks in there, but I couldn't. Use a fuel disconnect tool to release the other.

Do not sand/media blast the valve cover. You will destroy your engine.

sand/media will get trapped and suck in places on the valve cover and oil will flush them out when re-installed and then go through your motor.......ending your motor's life

I didn't. I made sure it was hand prepped prior to coating. There are filters on the back side of the valve cover to catch oil condensation. You will NEVER, EVER get the sand out. It will come out in chunks when oily. There are many ruined Evo and Miata engines for the very same reason.

Here's mine, properly done:

I got mine from modern performance all ready powder coated. So should I be fine then ? And I ended up just breaking the one line off of the turbo.

I dig the rough paint look on the cover. That's what i want to do with mine so it'll match the ZZP piping

Ask them if it's sand blasted. Don't tell why you're asking. Run if they say "Yes, but we cover the back". It's almost impossible to fully shield the back, and all outlets/oil fill.

Why breaking the line off?

Yes, there are water soluble materials to use Just need a blaster that's dedicated to it. Discussed it with my PC, and we decided to hand prep. I still washed the hell out of it when I got it home though.

Mine is Ford wrinkle blue

Gloria isn't quite right about the ones that John has available. They are media blasted. No comment on what kind. However, you can trust the VC from John.

Ya see what happens?I am careful to say "media blast" but the current common nomenclature is "sand blasting". Its not sand. In this case.

One issue we have, I tried a series of rockers with an acid wash and no media blast and the pc came off and I had to warranty a bunch of the covers. It was frugly.

They need to be scuffed at least before or after washing etc.

But Wangspeed is 100% correct, the Evo guys got into huge problems with engine issues. I have been doing the exchange program for 3 years now and only comebacks were the aforementioned non media blasted covers.

Oh and candy colors not being consistent. Candy is not consistent, the cover is not consistent and the way we dealt with that is , however, easy.

NO candy colors anymore.

Textured finishes are best for rocker covers no doubt, Warren leads the way.

I like textured because it tends to hide the fact that my engine bay gets quite dirty
