Warm engine, auto start fail

With my engine warm I attempted to start my car after stopping off for some brew. The auto start failed to start the engine three times in a row. The fourth time I hit the gas a little and it started and idled fine. There are no other symptoms and power feels fine. What gives? It is around 80 degrees in Seattle and my Cobalt SS Turbo is 100% stock. There have been a couple of other times over the past few weeks where the auto start failed to get the engine running on the first flick but I played it off as me simply failing to turn the key completely over in my haste to reach for my belt. Now I know I wasn't imagining things.

will be afk for a couple of hours while I start dinner.
