Well I went to another dealership today and loved it. I went to a small chevy dealership and told them about my rear breaks and how almost everyone is haveing a problem. After waiting for 30mins to see if they could do anything about it they told me the same thing all the other dealerships say sorry we cant do anything about it. I asked to talk to the head guy he looked at my rotors and said hey we cant buy you new ones but we can fix them.....they turned them took another hour and bang there fixed.
So it took an hour and a half and they fixed it for free....I hope this is the last time I have a problem with my breaks.
Because I went to a smaller dealership they let me walk around and look under my car.
If you guys are having a hard time getting them fixed I would try a smaller dealership....I had to drive 30 mins.
Also they said that the rear complaint reports cant help

Did they replace your pads or just turn your rotors?
I believe GM has a script that the dealerships read off trying to explain that there is no defect and that the rear brakes are naturally a high wear item. LOL. At least that is what they said to me.

Yea I only got my rotors turned they did not replace the pads but what ever its a start.
Umm I dont think they did anything about the caliper slide pins.
Do they take the pins out to take the rotors off.

No, they don't. It's not a real hard job, look up pad replacement on this site or Autozone, etc.

Just had new rotor's and pads put on 7000 miles . They greased the pins and adjusted the Ebrake cable because something was hanging up in there. I know nothing was hanging enough to feel it in the car.It coasted fine and never felt like there was any resistance going down the road. Would roll in neutral on just a slight grade.
The brake warranty is 12 month 12K miles on wearable items like brakes . People who have over 25K miles and are trying to get brakes warrantied are gunna be disappointed 9 times out of 10 . If i had 25K .... I would have just did them as maintenance and bought aftermarket parts.

Thankfully I have a good dealership that will work with me.
I just hope the new rotors/pads they put on the rear will last longer.
If they don't then I'm going all aftermarket parts.

I figured I'd finally post in this after a good amount of time...but I just clicked over 15,000 miles and have no uneven or weird wear patterns...must've just been a bad batch. I've also noticed that my car never had any signs of the Oil leak from th valve cover either...Guess I got lucky

the dealership lubed my brakes and sanded the rotors on the 1 time i took it in and the 2nd time they replaced the left rear caliper and said that the TC brakes are supposed to make some squeak/grind noise and to pretty much just get over it

I tried searching but came up with nothing. I traded my ss/sc awhile ago but posting this for my older lazy brother who doesnt want to look up his username and pass. He has an 09 ss/tc and we did his front brakes today. Hes been having a wicked vibration and he has bad wear on his rear rotors. For some reason we just replaced the front pads (afterwords thought this wouldnt do much). But my question is basicly the long pins that go through the front calipers and pads need to be punched out? I found a g35 youtoob video of basicly the same brakes. But my second thought is are alot of other people having trouble with there rear rotors wearing that bad? I mean damn in both our first ss/sc cobalts we had to replace both front pads and rotors within the 15xxx mark. He only has 8xxx on his. Any thoughts Il try to check this thread out again. Man I miss this site

Rear inner pads hit metal to metal at about 4,000km. The outside pads and rotor surface looked very good. The dealer put on new rotors, pads, calipers, and pins. All under warranty. The slide pins where not available with out the calipers at that time, so they replaced the calipers to get the pins.
I now have 52,000km with no brake issues.

After reading all the brake threads I had my best buddy (a GM mechanic) lube all the pins on my rear calipers. I did it the day I brought it home. hope it works

Ok, so I think I figured out the problem with my brakes. It wasn't quite what I was expecting. When I felt the what I thought were the pads in the rear they felt extremely low. However, that was just an assumption because I couldn't see them. Upon removing the wheels and checking the brakes I noticed a feature on the rear passenger caliper mounting brackets that is colliding with the rotor and is making a groove in the rotor. This would explain the grooves in the passenger rotor and the grinding noise I hear.
On the driver side the matching feature is not contacting the rotor. There is a small groove in the rotor but I don't see what exactly is causing it.
The pads on both sides actually are very equal in material left so I definitely was wrong about that. At least I did find a problem so I know that I'm not going crazy. Its very easy to see why the dealer missed it to. I don't think they removed the wheel and looked at it on a lift. To see the feature on the bracket the wheel needs to be removed and you need to be looking from the top.

Here's another pic shown in another post here. The poster was showing the problems with his rotors, but the PIN looks damn clean! Here it is again:

I keep mine clean, now, but it's a pain. Keeping the slides cleaned and greased has cured my issues (emergency brake actually works now and no grinding noise), but it gets old. I need to put a boot on them like someone else on here did. The scoring still occurs, but I guess that's more a function of the pads.
