I filed both times my brakes had to be fixed. This won't help get them fixed, but in the long run it could help make a recall.

I loosened my e-brake cable all the way (so there was a LOT of slack) and the driver's rear wheel STILL drags. This is definitely a design issue or a manufacturing defect. I would recommend you check this adjustment asap.

I've had my TC for 1300km now and my rear passenger rotor is scored quite visibly, but I can't notice any noise. The other three are absolutely fine. I'm taking it in to the dealer this week anyways, so I'll see what they say/can do for me. I have pics on my cell, I'll post them up later if I'm not too lazy.

My SS/TC is at the dealer for a few different issues at the moment. (coil pack went out completely causing misfire. Service ESC light comes on randomly. Rear brakes)
I have almost 20K miles on the car. Almost all highway though so the brakes are not applied a lot.
I have grooves and very obvious grinding. It sounds exactly the same as when the rotors are rusted from sitting overnight only it does it on the rears every time. I'll let you know how it goes. They are wanting to take care of the misfire first obviously.
Here's some pics.
What you'll notice on this one is that there are marks that do not go full circle. Almost like some piece of embedded grit.

Outside brake pad.

Here is an inside pad. It looks to me like it's worn down pretty thin. Looks that way to me anyway.

The light on this one really shows the grooves that are going on. This is the outside of one of the rear rotors. Dealer didn't seem concerned with the grooves btw, more with the noise.

This is the inside of a rear rotor. Drivers side I believe. Looks like the pad is worn a lot (if not down to the backplate.) You can see the rotor has taken a beating. Note the inside edge.

It's a very rare occasion that I brake hard although I have had to a couple times due to bad drivers pulling out etc. I never ever yank the e-brake. I do use it when I park though.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

That looks like a friction material issue. I had that on my factory Crown Vic pads - they chewed up the rotors in the same way.

Well my rear's finally went. I went to the dealer for brake noise and they thought my brakes were already toasted and asked me if I was racing the thing and then he came back out 20 minutes later saying it was covered under warranty and to leave the car with him on Wed and it will all be fixed.

I had reported earlier that my parking brake tension had went from three to four to almost seven to eight. More recently though, the tension has... "re-readjusted" or something to five to six. All I can think of is the auto-adjuster is compensating for wear, but my pad wear hasn't changed dramatically between 15,000mi to 16,200mi. On most cars, I notice that when you apply the service/foot brake, it's easier to apply the parking brake, but I'm applying the parking brake on a level service without use of the foot brake.

Anyone know what to make of this?

That is almost exactly word for word what they said to me the FIRST time I had to have the rear brakes fixed. Weird.....

Dealer is covering my rotors. I have to pay for pads. The pads are only about half worn but I figured I better get different ones on so they don't eat the rotors for lunch.

It could be argued that they should cover all of it, but oh well. Good enough for me. They are taking care of a couple other issues and being pretty cool.

Yeah they also said they have no proof om how I drive my car but it's most likely the way I am driving my car that made this happen. Oh well, its fixed now and all good. I got new pads/rotors so I am happy

Warranty should cover it, take it to another dealer

So your front rotors are wearing just as badly as the rear rotors?

^^^^exactly. If your driving/braking were the cause of the problem, your front brakes would show it way before your back brakes. They are BS'ing you.

Kenneth S. Linton and his manager Tom DiGrande, of Dublin, CA Chevrolet Cadillac and Hummer gave me the same answer.

No matter how much I tried to pound it into their heads that it's manufactures defect, and that most of the people on this forum with LNF SS's are having this same issue, they blew the issue off as wear and tear. They took one look at my tires and completely disregarded anything I had to say about the issue. Tires F/R are already gone. Tires are completely unrelated to brakes.

Call Chevrolet Customer Assistance and start a case:
1-800-222-1020 - That number is for America and can be found on page 7-6 of your owners manual.

Get your vin number ready, call, and start a case. I think we need to go above these knuckle heads to get any resolution to this problem.

I bought mine in 05 new and I didnt drive it for a couple of months after I bought it. The first time I ever drove the car it sounded horrible but its from rust build up from the moisture we have over here. The car is now 4 years old it still has original brakes, they grind after it rains if I dont drive it, but it dosnt vibrate, shutter or pull.

I did do a brake fluid flush due to moisture in the brake fluid, but thats normal for every car.

No kidding. I took the car to the dealership I bought it from, FH Dailey in San Leandro, and they're evaluating the car now. They will not give me a loner car until they determine it is infact a manufacture's defect.
