clutch for hptune
So i got my car hp tuned by a local member almost a year ago. My tune isnt all that crazy or aggressive. I beleive it hilds 23psi and spikes 24 once in a while. I think it has 13 or 14 deg of timing with a .86 or .87 lambda. Lol.. I guess what im wondering is amongst all the after market clutches out there. What will hold the power i am making. The stock clutch slips if i go wot at 2800 or so rpm. But if i wait untill 3200 or 3400rpm it holds perfect. It only slips in 3rd and forth. And only for a spkit second and then grabs. I would love to replace it with something with more clamping power and that eill hold more trq. I was thinking the lsj upgraded clutch. But ced website says NOT to install it in an lnf ? Any thoughts and or input ? Thanks

Indeed a Whitty tune. I have ZERO complaints about him or the TUNE. my cars tune isnt all crazy ***** out. It works really well. Spins all of second once she spools. And pins me in my seat in third. Ive run his tune for a year now . and the car runs better then it did gms1. Even my cold start up is better. Lol..

Why is 2800 rpm a problem ? Dumb question probably. Just curious is all. It has never been before. Also, does the gmpp even work in an lnf ? And why would ced say to not order it ? Any power rating ?

He bases his tunes off term and they work together he said so he's definitely not a bad tuner for how long has done it!
I don't go wot in mine below 3500 and haven't slipped stock clutch at 380lb. The lower rpm tq spike is what kills them, did you ask him to build a ramp at all? Shauns clutch slipped like crazy on his tune but on terms tune it didn't slip at all: assuming it was a smoother ramp

I decided to set my WG controls to 70 below about 3k rpms and that helped a lot.
Otherwise the boost builds way too fast at low RPMs.
It's actually really nice DD when it only hits about 5psi at low RPM and average throttle.
Winter time sucks so bad with tires and clutch holding. Best to not drive like a race car.

I'm curious , why woundn't the clutch hold as well in the cold of the winter time ? In all seriousness if there is any truth to that. Maybe that's why my clutch slips right now. It barely slips. But just slightly for a split second then grabs if I go wot around 2500 to 2800rpm. Perhaps if I baby it all winter it will cgrab 100 percent in the summer time again.
Also , what is everyone doing with there flywheel ? I don't really want to purchase a new one. There so much money and I don't like light weight ones. I may try to just clean up my stock one with an air sander and reuse it.

I don't know how warm a clutch gets during driving. But you sure as hell don't want to do pulls first thing in the morning on a cold day.

You would need to resurface the flywheel but it's not recommended, you can buy a flywheel from zzp it's aftermarket but they say it's the same thing as the oem just doesn't have the GM stamp on it. Or I've also heard you can use the lsj flywheel

Why cant we resuface our wheels ? Im sure a good machine/engine builder could turn them properly ? And is the lsj wheel cheaper ?

To what I've seen they increase the distance of the tob and make it fail. Although some people have resurfaced the flywheel with no problems, or a shim could be used, if I remember correctly on ced it say that gm doesn't recommend to resurface the flywheel aswell, yeah the lsj is cheaper than the lnf

How much are the oem wheels ? And if i didnt machine my old wheel. Maybe i could just clean it up with a orbitial are disk litely and reuse it. I had an aluminum light weight fudenza on my old lsj and i didnt care for it. Caused a bit of extra vibrations that the stock wheel absorbed because it was so much heavier. And it caused a few random misfires on decel due to lack of weight as well. I am lokeing the price of the gmpp lsj kit for sure. Sobif i use the gmpp lsj upgrade kit. An lsj flywheel fits an lnf as well as there clutches also? The fw are the same too ? Are tye lsj wheels cheaper?

Zzp isn't oem, like I said in a post it's the exact same flywheel just doesn't say gm on it. And that's the price for the flywheels he probably got the prices fromced

My friend ordered one with a my clutch and he said the flywheel said gm and had a gm part # on it so idk, maybe he saw things

I was reading earlier that the only reason gm says to not resurface our fw is to keep the same tob travel. As well as heat transfer. So youbsay you just resurfaced your stock one ?
