Direct bolt-on turbo (ko4 replacement)
#352
For the WR-2 I would still like to see another tuner get their hands on one for tuning. I mean, I really want to see them do the 450hp rating they mentioned. BB, cool, better billet wheels ok, some porting to the housings, alright. They can only do so much though. I mean in those graphs its showing the power flat line at 5800-6k. That is at only 415whp.

As you said though, I too would like to see this in the hands of another tuner and on a Cobalt.

Doesn't Hahn spool later too. Like 4k or something?
Also if I go better than k04+ it will need to be direct bolt on. No need to get bov etc. I wanna plug and play. So Hahn, BNR, etc is out WR-2 and ZFR are my only options at this point

To people wanting the EFR. If you want more than 400 whp with only pump gas on a non aggressive tune I will probably recommend going bigger than the 6758. I would say 7163 is the better, I would want to swap out maybe in the near future if i'm not too satisfied LOL.

I did finally get around to adjusting ixxgh0stxxi's wastegate, and like I suspected, it had almost no preload on it which is why I was only able to get 25.5psi out of it before even with the wgdc maxed out (mind you this is in my logs, not his rpd). After I adjusted his wastegate we got to have a little fun with a nice 27psi pull and god damn this thing moved out! I can absolutely beyond a reasonable doubt feel confident in saying that i can comfortably squeeze 450whp out of this turbo if he ever wanted to do so. In a long winded sort of way, what I'm trying to say is if you can't get the amount of boost out of it that you expected, you may very well need to adjust the wastegate rod a bit to preload actuator a bit more.
After tuning a 6758 I REALLY want one to be perfectly honest. Great spool, great control, and great top end power all while egt's and IATs are kept surprisingly low. The only issue that I do have with it so far, is the internal bpv does not seem to respond as well as the k04's does. They are apparently both the identical bpv, yet for some reason the efr's isn't nearly as responsive nor does it want to blow off as easily. ixxgh0stxxi says they seemed to have the same spring rate when he pulled them both off to compare, but I'm not 100% convinced of that from what I've seen. I may have to see for myself at some point just to be sure though.

Really man? I'm a little surprised to see you saying that. What is it about the turbo that you dislike just out of curiosity? Is it not enough power for what you goals were? If not, what are your power goals and how much boost are you pushing at the moment?

I do not dislike anything at all! I just expected to have more room to play with than what I currently am at right now. I believe I'm set for 25 PSI. I wanted to play around with 420-450 whp on a slightly aggressive tune with 91. It looks like that is pretty impossible. I'm probably going to be maxed out at around 420 whp on 91 with an aggressive tune and very high psi, both which I did not really want. I would have to switch over to e47/85 or something to get the goals I'd like at a lower PSI or so. James can clarify more with my tune and what he can get out for me, I'm not sure exactly. We're still not finished yet .
I too will have to get my wastegate checked out ASAP. It's hard for me as I work full time morning shift. My mechanic closes when I get off work haha so I have to set something up with him when we are both available. I think maybe tomorrow I can take some pics and see what's going on in there lol.
AFAIK, I asked Matt@zzp what lbs the spring was and he said it should be very close to stock. So it could be but I'm not too sure, I get what your'e saying though with it having trouble getting all the air through.
