Direct bolt-on turbo (ko4 replacement)
#376
Yeah I'd love to test this turbo on e47 but there really aren't any local e85 stations around for him to run it as a daily driver. I run e47 with my k04, but I also have a large storage tank and a nice fill-rite fuel pump that I use for fuel storage/pumping, but I also don't use my car as a daily driver so a 40gal tank of fuel lasts me quite a while. Plus he would most likely need to install either the zzp cams or a 5th injector setup to get the propper fueling to support e47 with this turbo.

Yea, pretty much kinda the same boat as I'm in. The closes e85 station is 12 miles away from me and it's in the city. So it's horrible traffic there and back haha. It can be worth it though. I would have thought a 5th injector set up would be necessary for this turbo and power. We will have to move slowly though. ixxghostxxi and I are the only two people with the ZFR turbo that are doing tuning and installations etc without the help of ZZP. The other guy Chase has had help from ZZP so he didn't really run into the issues we've been running into.
Hopefully Matt is maybe willing to chime in and give a few pointers in how to get it to release propperly in mild/normal driving conditions. I tried making a couple of changes to a few things but to no avail.

wtf, a wr-3???
Oh damn...lol
btw, Yoan, you obviously need a better tune with 26psi and more aggressive...
Just got my full quote from hahn for turbo kit, charge-pipes with bov and intake...they give a great discount when you order multiple things, basically getting a free bov!!!

WR-3 sounds nice, but too much for me. I don't wanna mess with internals or tranny.

I saw that option #1 is Cyclone/Typhoon, option #2 was a Buick GN...
To me, this is a Buick GN;
... but I tried, and saw this;

if the wr2/3 wasn't so expensive it would definitely be something i'd look into .. but in my opinion price to performance you can't go wrong with the BNR .. yes you have to get a bov and charge piping.. but the price of buying a bov and getting a flange welded into piping (if you already have CP which you should for any turbo upgrade) is like 300 so you're still at 1500 total and it performs pretty well.. yes the ZFR will be better price/ performance if it's under 2k but they're still like a year out basically (to no fault of zzps) the yea the wr2 makes good power and is 100% direct bolt on.. but i personally feel it should be 1860 with the forge upgraded valve and powdercoated.. esp with a WR3 coming out then you could make that 2k or so and be a close contender with the efr if it puts out the ability for 510 hp
thats just my opinion. it really all depends on your goals though

WR-3, god damn things move fast in the LNF communities. So is that just going to have an upgraded Presicion compressor housing???
Just for your info, yes for Cobalts I guess you need to get Charge pipes and BOV but I truely say its a bolt on cause with the Kappas I had to replace nothing. The Turbo kit I bought from DDMWorks was The turbo, Powdercoated and ceramic coated with BOV for $1400 that directly bolted on. It worked just fine with the existing Charge pipes I had. This is why for me I say it is the Best Bang for the buck.

The WR-2 is a 55mm exhaust wheel and a 51mm billet aluminum compressor wheel
and it flows approx. 18% more air than the stock turbo and supports up to
450hp
I am also finishing up a new WR-3 turbo that has a 55mm exhaust wheel and a
55mm billet aluminum compressor wheel and it flows approx. 18% more air than
the stock turbo and supports up to 510hp.
