In all honesty, i'm still looking at the s20g set-up to be different and really try to get some results outta it(425whp/400wtq)

James did a custom setup on his s20g.

But i'm sure whatever setup you go with, you should be happy with it

I'll tell you what, with that goal in mind, you will have no problem reaching it with the S20G setup. Just on E47 with supporting bolt-on will yield you that. If I were you though buy a rebuild kit for it($20) just to have handy. I know a guy with a Sky that has the S20G setup and his first dyno made 412whp 441wtrq. Now he's making much more than that with headwork, cams and 5th injector.

The turbo is not unreliable, they are damn good turberchargers for making power. They just have seals go out on them(Leak oil etc). Ask people in the DSM world about it, they'll tell you.

Generally you can not get both great powerband and top end power on the same setup on such a small motor. You either need to do a bigger turbo with say a small ar on the turbine side to get good spool and then hang on up top. Or be satisfied with a quicker spooling turbo but you might have a power band of 3-6500 rpms or you have a power band of 4500-8000 rpms. The hybrid that ccss3 has is a good piece. About the only one that will have both that you want. Some say there not that reliable. They are just older technology thats all, but again like james', its a good setup.

its good to hear that the big dogs on here like the s20g, but why dont any of you have it other than james? Its super cheap, and makes good power/torque on 26psi+, 93 gas, so what is the deal?...haha

Like I said old technology. You can get a bigger lighter weight turbo now a days and make more power with the same spool times and what not. And like 40rty said, there known for having leaking seals and issues like that.

What do you mean dropped like crazy? The boost curve? That was actually do to a sticking waste gate. The precision wastegate ended up not being as good as a tial. Got home and switched it over to a new pte46 and the issue went away.

Or are you talking about the average hp to the max hp. The average boost was 28psi and the max was on the spike at 31.2 psi, and the average hp which is kindof irrelevent because it is using the spool up time as well.

Well first thing, both turbos don't loose power up top unless its a inefficient boost setting. That goes for all turbos. The 20g on "24 with a spike of 26" didn't loose one bit of power. Just tq.

I also never said you can make 500whp on the 20g. I said you can make good power on the 20g.

And I'm on a custom turbo setup I've made... It's stil a td06/t3 cartridge but the 20g is a 52mm and my new in wheel is a 63mm along with a 3in compressor cover with surge protection. This turbo I'm at now makes 950/975cfm per mitsu and Garrett tables I've seen.
