Doing Brakes and replacing Swaybar Endlinks
Need some opinions.
I already know I am going with Moog sway bar Endlinks. I know I am going to need a grease gun and some grease to squirt in there.
Moog Endlinks im looking at
I am going to do the brakes at the same time.
Looking at R1Concepts eline series, unsure if these fit even though Amazon.com thinks they will fit. Also what brake pads come with these? I think Gold hats and vanes would be cool haha.
Next question,
Brembo Caliper pins usually end up getting replaced with brake jobs on our cars, can someone confirm if this looks like the correct pin kit?
Lastly, for the grease gun, what do you guys suggest? something to just get grease in the moog endlinks. and what is a great grease to use? Synthetic or lithium based?
If you have any other suggestions, I am open for discussion. I saw Powerstop Z23 Evolution kit on Rockauto.com that looks promising. I am coming from R1concepts Premier rotors and pad kit.

I have Brembos on my SS/SC, and if I were you, I'd stick with the stock brake pads.
I also had moog endlinks.... wasn't a fan of them. Make sure to paint them if you get them, or they will rust on you.
I'd go with powergrids and never have to worry about greasing.

Jesus, $160 for Powergrids? I daily my car. Not looking for an upgrade just a decent replacement :/
Im thinking I will stick with ACdelco's I believe they are the stock swaybar endlinks.

Stock pads, stock rotors are generally best unless you track the car a lot.
As for end links, Power grid is best. Moog are fine. make sure to grease and paint over the areas that could rust. Replace them every 30-40k miles. That's so many years of ownership that I can't even consider the power grids.
As for pins. I have done front brakes twice and have reused them. I used the brake grease that comes with the front pads. I got 50k out of front pads and rotors twice.

Ended up grabbing R1Concept eline rotors (drilled slotted), OEM pads, and OEM swaybar links.
I also grabbed some yellow brembo decals and some black G2 paint. How does everyone deal will the Brembo caliper pins? Punch? size?

Nice update how the r1 concepts feel, I been considering them since I need new brakes. Haven't don't the front yet but yeah a punch should do it for the pins

Idk the size of punch, medium to small size. I really wanted to experience a siezed pin. Mine have been easy to get out.

i have the R1concepts premier rotors with hawk HP's pads. The rotors were great. Pads did not bite as much as the OEM pads.

Well i installed the acdelco endlinks. Definitely a challenge with hand tools only. A 15" breaker bar saved me along with grip lock plyers.
I've sanded and painted the brakes, waiting 24 hours before I put the new pand rotors on.

You did remember that the factory end links have the small bolt head on the backside to keep it from spinning right?

stuffs I got.<br/><br/>R1concept eline series rotors (gold zinc coated), g2 caliper paint in gloss black, ACDelco endlinks, yellow brembo decals from SignSomething, Factory pads (Ferodos), VHT clear coat but I didnt use it and probably not going to. Mixed reviews have lead me away from it.

step 1. put car on jack stands. take wheels off. and try not to panic or imagine the car sliding off.
this sucker was a pain. trick I used was locking grips and a 15" breaker bar. worked well.
new ones on the left, old on the right.
new endlinks on, clunking sound is completely gone. torqued to 55 ft-lbs.<br/><br/>inspecting the old ones, I noticed nothing loose or making any noise.
old rotors were R1concept Premier series. They were great rotor. Probably 70k miles on them.
heres what I had to work with. 90k miles on these things, never cleaned (well in great detail anyway).
wire brushed using a 2" wire brush circle bit on a drill and sanded using 220 grit followed by more wire brushing.
sanded with 400 grit.
finally wire brushed it even more and came out with this polished brembo brake. the stencil stayed and was black. I thought that was strange but really cool look. Almost gave up on painting lol.
rear calipers got the same treatment.
4 coats of g2 gloss black paint. Ideally you want to keep coating until your out of paint lol. Probably easily get 5 coats out of the 4 oz they give you.
same for rears
everyone claims stick with stock pads. Well, I cant remember what these were like but it will be a neat comparison to the ceramic Hawk pads ive been on for ever.
final looks before mounting wheels. yellow decal on.
wheels on paint hardened.
I think it looks good, opinions?

quite the experience, but I had fun. my body hurts though, cant wait to go to work.

I've seen some how tos on polishing calipers. I was pretty much there but just needed some metal polisher and a buffer bit on the drill and done. Just surprised I couldnt make the brembo letters disappear. Maybe need to start with a rougher grit.
Heres the how to I saw. Looks like I needed 1000 grit and 1500 grit to get that glossy polished look.
