Drewbroo's Tune review Part II - Superchips, HP, TF (With Dyno comparrison sheets)

yea has awesome tunes, was worth my 3.5 hr drive up there... still have yet to get to the track since terms tune, last time went 13.90 at 103.5 on gms1 with a 2.2 60 stock contis,, not that great.
didnt realize you could tune the torque curve for the clutch/tranny to be safe. 404lbs is awesome torque man.
13.78 @ 103-104mph is rediculously good for stock. it must have been cold outside to run that, great numbers either way.
Im just waiting till i can meet up with terminator2 to get tuned. i cant wait to be honest, it will be a glorious day im sure...hahahaha

Damn, that is good. I will throw a party if I hit 13s. I've tried all summer long to hit 13s with Vince's tune. I suck at launches but when people analyzed my run sheet they said I wouldn't do much better if I launched good. They said my car just isn't accelerating like it should...
Up here other cobalt members with no parts, but GMS1 they run about what I do... n:

Highest wtq Ive seen on a stock clutch so far was 424 but Ive also seen cars with 330ish slip lol. Term will be able to adjust the low end tq for whatever your car can hold. It won't effect the power and the power won't effect the clutch. its that low end tq that is the issue.

The new tables are awesome now, no more boost or tq spikes. Also can hold the tq flatter as well. I just went back to pump gas and logged a flat 344% Load this morning until almost 5k lol..
#131
nice, yeah I havn't seen tq spikes till the beta came out, and the first tune you did on my car.

You should try our latest stuff again, just to compare the newest I've actually been getting really good gas mileage on E and got the car to drive incredibly smooth as well. You're welcome to try an updated version

I would but I sold both my cobalts and got an MK6 4 Door GTI.... new project

Not sure about the GIAC stuff but I know with Revo you can download Lemmiwinks and tweak the tune. Its a bunch of scalars, nothing in depth. Thats the only issue and reason I won't buy a Euro Turbo car again, you are forced to use OTS tunes and crap like that. Or pay a redic amount to buy the dealer software to get a real tune on it.

My buddy has a stage 2 revo and to be frank, I'd prefer APR or GIAC, Revo is relatively new and every time my buddy disconnects his battery for any reason, he has to drive back down to 3zero3 Motorsports and get it reflashed.
We argue all the time, he prefers 3zero3 and I prefer Avalon Motorsports.
3zero3 is a authorized dealer of Revo and Avalon is authorized for GIAC and APR, but they also do custom tuning. So in my opinion custom tuning is the best.
I've toyed around with getting a MK6, but I'd have to get a k04 or GT28, there's no way I'd stick with the K03

It's called heat-soak, my friend. The biggest enemy to performance in vehicles and especially in FI applications. It would have happened on any tune. Just the law of thermodynamics.
#139
Actually yeah I did, I didn't really put 2 and 2 together until now. Does Trifecta become weak in warm weather?

When I see enough tables out for revo, making it worth my while I will get it, otherwise I will just be happy with a GIAC or APR tune. Im likeing it stock right now.

Amen to that. I went to bradenton two times. Never again lol. Stock tune (adjusted MAF only) and fully bolted I ran a 14.2 at 97 MPH with a 2.4 sixty foot (~90* temps and very humid). Tuned at 24 psi and 93 octane I ran a 13.2 at 117.8 MPH with a 2.6 sixty (I cannot launch for anything ) (~70* temps dry air)

The K03 isnt a bad little turbo if you are just driving a car as a dd, and are not racing everyone. I didn't get the MK6 because of speed, I got it because of the overall package, comfort, and quietness. It instant tq of a K03 is nice to have, it is a bother when it does out, but im not racing everyone to work. Stock it will run a 14.7@99-100 and thats enough for me right now. When the warranty runs out, its getting a GT3071R.

My buddies GTI vs my other buddies MR-S, my friend with the GTI is getting the DSG stage 2 flash this coming January so he should be able to launch better.

Must be nice lol, my buddies DSG ran 15.5's and he's Revo Stage 2, intake, downpipe, exhaust and inverter valve. Living this high sucks.

sounds like he needs driver mod and a real reflash. On vortex, I have not read that many good things about revo. I have a friend down here with an MK6 and DP and APR flash, and he runs a 13.6@106. Stock he got a 14.8@99. Also you buddy has an MK5, not an MK6. The MK5's have an FSI motor, the 6's have the TSI motor. Also the MK6 is lighter and has better dsg firmware. What I have is a 2010 MK6 4 door. ALso you friend might want to get the fuel pump upgrade that is what is holding he/she back. (The FSI motors need it when they do the DP and flash upgrade. The small puel pump cant keep up.
Also how do you mess up a DSG 1/4 mile run?
#145
Some of the DSG's need a factory reflash, due to bad firmware. Its hard to mess up. My GLI (2007) Had the factory fuel pump fix and CAI and GIAC S1. It ran a 14.1@101.4. The GLI also weighs more and this was at 3200 ft of actual da and a calc da of 5500+. Finding the link for you.

Everyone likes them equally now adays apparently. Just looked up the threads. The old VS thread has disapeared. It used to be a sticky. APR is the most conservative though, and the only one with a DSG specific flash.

Yea, but the heatsoak effects were way more dramatic on the trifecta tune. If my car got heatsoaked it felt like it barely pulled harder than stock. I was even with a 370z before when it was pretty hot out. Now anytime I'm driving(except in rain) my clutch slips alot more(clutch already ordered) and I sink into my seat an inch from all the torque when it grabs.

BTW the TSI does come in the mkv as well. I had it in my Mkv GTI. 09+ is TSI motor It was the only year for the mkv to have the TSI and I'm glad I had it .
You don't want to put a 3071 in this... way too laggy. I would recomend APR stage 3 but that is lots of $$$$$$$ it uses 28rs which is slightly bigger than k04 but smaller than 2871... you should still get over 350 whp with that easy.
