E85 lnf

Okay so I've been scouring the posts on here and can't seem to find a 100% definite answer on what all needs to be done to run e85 on these cars, tune is a given, and probably upgraded cam lobe for the hpfp, but do I NEED to change out the in tank fuel pump or the injectors for opel hp's? I thought I read somewhere that the stock injector seals were not e85 compatible

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mod list so far:
Zfr 7163
Full 3" exhaust (no cats)
Hahn CAI
Gms1 map sensors
Upgraded clutch (brand unknown, was on the car when I bought it)
Zzp intercooler and charge piping
Zzp canned tune

If you have a 2010 you should be good on the seals. If you are feeding a 7163 you will need the bigger can lobe and opels probably wouldn't hurt. I will let others tell you about the pump in tank.

I've never heard anyone changing the pump in the tank in the lnf

The in tank pump is pretty good, never heard of anyone changing it either.

Depends on altitude. I ran full E85 on totally stock fuel system making 359/418 but I'm at 5,400 feet.
At sea level the cam with bigger fuel lobe would probably be prudent. As for injector seals, late model 2009 and all 2010 have the upgraded ones. As for the in-tank fuel pump, don't believe you need to mess with that until you go bigger turbo. An option to avoid upgrading it is ZZP's fuel pump rewire kit which increases its throughput.

Seems like I would need injectors seals if I run E my car is a 09 but the build date is 08/08, or would that be fine?

Well if your going to check or whatever might aswell install new ones, since you do have to remove the intake manifold

That's really early on in the 09 build year so I would say yes replace them

You can get by at least 1 year because I did this year, if you need to wait. My build is only 1 month later than yours, and I ran e47 this year.

I might just run e47 for what the tank last/dyno and go back to 91 while I can get new seals or injectors

It's also easier to get away with running e47 versus full e85. You're still running 50% gasoline so the risk of the seals drying out by the alcohol is less.

So what about a 6758 zfr fully bolted running e47 instead of the full e85. What would u need then to run it safely? Could u do it without the cams and injectors if it's just e47?

How does E47 work when you wanna fill up? What if you are on half a tank and you want fuel because you're going on a 300 mile drive? Do you just guess? It just seems like a tuning nightmare because of getting the mix just right.

The most taxing thing on our fuel system is a fast spool. Since our HPFP runs based off of RPM the more revs the more fuel you will flow. Running E47 is less taxing on the system but you can still run tons of timing. The 6758 will spool faster than the smooth 7163 but with a ramp you can keep pressures up. Yes you can run E47 over 400hp with no mods but for higher HP cars I would recommend at least a lobe.

The first time you fill you go almost empty and fill 25L of E and top off with gas. Then after that you fill the same amount 15L vs15L or whatever you need but you don't fill right to the top again

Ok I'm gonna talk right now cause it's easier for me. Say you have a 1/4 tank and wanna fill you could have 12L or so in there so u can fill 38L but if you guess wrong and thing u have 40L empty u fill 20L of E and only 18L of pump so it throws ur ratios off. Therefore its easier to fill 30L and have a bit of tank left but the ratio will be bang on

Ok, so having a boost ramp is not an issue for me because I want the tranny to last as long as possible. What the issue is for me is the fact that the highest octane available to me is only 91. So as u can imagine my timing is incredibly low. It also gets to 110+ degree F out here in CA during the summer time which doesn't help out at all. So even though I have a fully bolted 6758 zfr, my buddy with a fully bolted e47 ko4 turbo can put a car on me. now mind u my current tuner is Term2 so the guy knows what he is doing and my buddies ko4 balt on e47 is Trifecta tuned and has no back seats or spare tires plus I usually always have at least half a tank of gas n my girl riding with me cuz shes into racing too. Lol

I hate 91! I would drive to get a barrel or 2 of E or at least run meth. On my dyno 28psi I ran knock free 23* from E25 (94 E10 and C85) and 550cc meth. On 94 e10 and the 550cc I can run 19* I'm not 100% sure but on the 94 e10 I could prob run 15 to 16* because our 94 e10 is really good for pump

Yea, we don't have anything higher than 91 but we do have 1 e85 gas station in town which is conveniently located about 2 miles away from me only. Lol

Wait, what? If you weren't tuned by Term I would say get a decent tuner. But that sounds wrong to me. I'm running e47 on the 6758 but I'm at 5,400 feet which helps. Still, I was running out of fuel on my dyno run where I made the numbers in my sig. Which is why I am upgrading my fuel system this winter. Opel injectors and Stage 3 cams. And custom 5th injector because I wanna run full e85 again lol

91 octane is also the highest you can get here.
But as KMO said, mixing is easy, you'll get used to it quick. Just guesstimate how much your car will take on the low side, and fill up 50/50. I also always carry a 5-gallon can of E85 with me so I never run out.
