First Performance Mod for 09 SS/TC, under $300 total

Haha gotcha. The reason I always ask these questions is to get as much experience from everyone as I can. Video clips of exhausts really aren't all that accurate. Gotta hear them in real life. I've been torn between the two of them for a while now haha.
I can't confirm it, but I heard someone say once that most of the 3" exhausts for the TCs sound very similar.

i have 4 exhausts for the SS/TC... and every single exhaust sounds EXTREMELY different... not similar in any way..
well.. the FL and the RFL sound kinda close... but you can easily distinguish the two

I obviously don't mean comparing muffler deletes to exhausts with mufflers.

Catless down pipe, K&N SRI, and Injen CP on the stock exhaust is all you need. I sold my badmab catless to a buddy of mine for $50. He got an HP Tune recently and made 310/360 on a conservative tune on a dynojet and 93 Octane. Of course he's also running a ZZP S4 Clutch.

Personally, I'd lean toward the K&N SRI, then DP, then tune, then a clutch. So the first mod would be the K&N SRI.
The wife (and this is her decision) wanted to do the budget tune...until she heard about the dual mode, at which point she decided it's a "part-time tune" and isn't sure that she wants to mod the car at all, now.
Don't ask me to explain that logic, I'm pretty lost. I've tried to explain that you wouldn't want the extra power all the time, such as when going 5mph down I-35, but she isn't having it.

For instance, I have an HPtune by BYT. The first tune I got from him, I told him it was waaaay to torquey in the low rpms and it was difficult to get the car moving smoothly from a dead stop. He set it up so that in first gear my max boost was 10-12 psi and then had the wastegate start to close around factory settings.. The torqueyness comes from the wastegate being closed as early as possible to build immediate boost.
So my first gear feels like a step above factory (for traction and daily driving purposes) and my 2nd - 5th gear are ball to the wall but definately manageable for daily driving.

crane is wrong... it does add some power...
lee is correct too.. why do people go BOV or straight pipe exhaust? it sounds cool lol...
but crane does have some truth to his statement... like a stock intake with a k&n filter will probably give you close to the same whp gains as a k&n sri
