Hahn PPC Tuner vs Superchips Cortex Tuner

Ok, I didnt bother searching to see if this topic has been discussed but just to clear the air if anyone is wondering about this I do finally have some information. First off, I have recently purchased a new 09 SS/TC and I installed the GMS1 and had GM flash the car for me. I also went out and purchased the Superchips Cortex tuner thinking I was making a smart and cheaper decision rather than buying the very pricy Hahn PPC tuner. Anyhow, to my surprise I tried to load a tune with the Superchips Cortex and it was showing that it is non-compatible with my car yet it is supposed to work. Anyhow, after talking with the Superchip tech dept. I found out that there is no current solution to "piggy back" the superchips with the GMS1 tune. So I had a chat with Aaron @ Hahn about the PPC Tuner and found out that this tuner will work in conjunction with the GMS1 tune. Now for me this is great news because I didnt want to give up the GMS1 stage kit, rather I wanted to find something to tune easily on my own that would work together with this. I do also understand that another few options for myself was either HPTuners or Trifecta but I do not live near anybody with knowledgable tuning skills nor a dyno so my options boiled down to these 2 programmers. I hope this may help you guys who have been wondering the same thing that I was. Oh, and by the way if anyone is interested in purchasing the Superchips Cortex tuner let me know!

What are you trying to gain my running the PPC over top of stage 1? The PPC , Cortex and GM stage1 are roughly the same power wise.......is there some feature the PPC has that you really want ?

Well guys, to be honest I dont know much about the LNF so far since I just bought the car. I knew my LSJ inside and out but not this guy..yet.. I was told that the PPC tuner can work in conjunction with the GMS1 tune. I had sent in information to Aaron at Hahn and he said that it could work together so I assumed that I could "piggy back" both of these rather than eliminating 1 and have more possibilities and more power ect. I may be wrong and I think that there is a good chance that I am so I emailed Hahn back to see if I could cancel that order and go with Trifecta but I dont know enough about Trifecta at this point. I did have HPTuners on my LSJ and my tuning capabilities is nil. I was constantly having to pay someone to tune my car over the internet since Im not close to a tuning shop and its tough for me to get away. If you guys have some information that could be helpful about how much Trifecta is and whats involved I would appreciate it. And please dont say to search because I hardly have time right now to get on here for a few minutes a day since Ive been working 14-16 hour days. Thanks ahead for any help guys! Greatly appreciated!

superchips and ppc tuner blow ass. get trifecta if you don't have time/knowledge to tune. you get a tuner in the mail, load it, data log, e-mail log to vince at trifecta, he tweaks it, sends you a new tune to load, repeat till you're happy. he can tune your gms1 car also, so that'd work. otherwise learn some tuning basics and get HPT and have fun. i chose the hpt route, i'm learning, and it's actually kind of fun to play around and see what little changes can have positive/negative effects on the car. either way, HPT or trifecta or you are wasting your money.

Ok, well Hahn was great to me. They let me cancel the PPC tuner since I ordered all the other goodies from them anyhow(charge piping, intake, intercooler, dp and catback) I am going to be able to just leave the credit with them for the s20g when available for a turbo upgrade and the bov option. I think I am going to go with trifecta seeing that I work way to much to really have any time to learn hptuners and I only hear good things about Vince. Does anybody have any idea how much the cable is from Trifecta? And how much does it cost for Vince to send each tune?

Ok, I talked with Vince @ Trifecta and I am going to purchase the cable and he is going to send a tune for me. So this is what my car is going to have within the next few weeks;

-GMS1
-Hahn Cold air intake
-Hahn Charge piping
-Hahn dp w/high flow cat
-Hahn Catback
-Hahn Intercooler
-Trifecta Tune

I have also talked with Aaron @ Hahn and I am on the waiting list for the BOV option that integrates with the Hahn charge piping and I am also going to upgrade the turbo to the s20g from Hahn as well. This car should be a great dd and a beast when need be . I also love the idea of the tune changing capability off of the cruise button.

You're making some good choices with all that. Considering you've been talking to Vince from Trifecta I'd recommend looking into Clear Image Automotive because they work very closely with Trifecta, and they make some great products as well for a lower price then Hahn. Honestly you can't go wrong w/ either company though.
