Gotta love the people that feel like yelling on the internet is going to change anything. Save your breath.

Not saying you are wrong or right, but still doesnt change anything. I street race, is it smart? No. Is it legal? No. Do i do it in traffic? No. Does that make it safe? no.

30 years ago my mother was busting ass in a 72 chevelle ss. She tells me stories of them racing just outside of town all night long and the cops knew about it and would even watch. Times have changed because people were idiots and started killing innocent people. That does not mean racing has died, people drive fast cars for a reason. Not everyone can or will take it to a track.

Ive probably spent more time at the track, than you have been driving, hell i lived next to one for years. I still go to the track, but on an open stretch of road, if a heads/cam z06 pulls up and wants to run... i probably dont have the maturity to resist. If there is traffic or side roads anything i feel is an issue, i of course wont.

Ok i have a question... In the op's first post it said he had it in comp mode doesn't that hurt the top end of our cars or am i wrong, could have sworn i read that on here when people dyno there cars in comp mode the ecu slows it down or sumthin after 4000 rpm. I could be wrong though.

First of all,I don't street race in traffic at all. We make sure we set the rules and make sure everyone follows. I look for places like open roads where there isn't any busy traffic at all or cops sighted. That is my #1 rule principal about street racing don't get any bi standards involve in your race. 2nd I would rather have myself and the person next to me be the only dumb ass's wrecking each other. 3rd After the race is finished I lay low and down so I don't pick up any heat. That's incase you done it traffic and are expected soon to get tagged. 4th shake hands and call it a night. 5th make it home safely.

^ im always courteous after a race even if i lose. Theres nothing worse than ******** that either lose and act like douches and just exit right away or lose then speed off and don't wave or anything. Or the guys who win and are like, "oh your car is slow. You suck" lol

I assume you have never done anything stupid in your life? Ever done a burnout? Ever taken a corner fast? Ever gotten a speeding ticket? Ever had even one drink maybe two and drove home? Different people see different things as crossing the line. Whereas you see street racing as the limit, and older person than each of us my detest even a simple jaunt around a corner in the country or a burnout.

If not you must be f*cking Jesus, cause we have all done something dumb or reckless from time to time.

I doubt he's spraying yes were slow stock, but its a whole new ballgame with stage 1 which you won't see. Intakes and dp With stage one and minor bolt ons people make 290-300 whp....hope this shed some light on the situation.

lol, yeah I'm not one of the them. I was more concern about why the hell did I lose to this guy and what is wrong with my car. I know I didn't miss any gears and executed everything correctly. Just never understood it. I just shake the guy's hand and went about my business. Plus I have 0 points or traffic violations on my record. I've been driving for 7 years, unlike others who are not so fortune.

did you notice him spinning tires, or did he just say that? i run into people like that all the time where even if they win over me, they will try to make their car out to be a bigger badder ass thanthey think it is, citing: well if i hadnt missed 2nd gear u wouldnt have seen my tailights.. or if my clutch wasnt slipping.. blah blah.. even when i win, its an excuse... well u only won cause i missed 2nd gear, or cause my cars running hot.. im sorry thats not my fault you brought a piece of S*** to race... and im sorry i actually hit 2nd gear lol. anywho, its been stated that with the psi level he was pulling hes not stock. though i still have real doubts he was spinning going into 3rd, probably around 65mph?? chirp 3rd probably, flat out lose traction, nah... not even on a "tune" and nothing else.

and if money is an issue for you right now, just get the aftermarket downpipe and reuse ur stock exhaust. most have said the downpipe is good for 10-15hp by itself and the catback is worth the 5hp netting you around 20hp or so with a full system. buy the downpipe and save ur money then buy the 500 dollar exhaust later. also, as others have stated, a trifecta tune or similar tune will do wonders better than gms1 and get it tuned for your cai and downpipe.

if i lost even twice to the guy, i would changed the rules or left it well enough alone and said thanks. lol. if he beat me twice 40 roll, make him get outta his comfort zone.. ive beaten plenty "ok" drivers with waaay better cars just by knowing my car better and its capabilities. get him to race off the line, calibers boost is limited in first and 2nd gears for a launch, so practice ur launch and eat him alive... otherwise dont let it get to you so bad.. its just a race... and these reasons listed above are why i like the drag strip, cause u have a crowd of people that see you win and timeslips dont lie.. lol

Yeah it may be stupid to you and thats fine, but we all do what we want and yeah he might learn or might not

But racing is something that everybody loves and enjoys whether at the track or on the street and that wont change

I personally like the street more because you have less of a chance breaking your car, axles and tranny's get expensive

I agree with you, but since the OP lost pretty bad, I believe he had a custom tune with full bolt ons.

you got it... asphalt gives much easier than concrete... you don't see many guys break **** street racing... not to mention that you rarely will race a car A LOT faster than you on the street, whereas, on the drag strip you might get lined up beside a full slick 8 second car... one that, if they lose it off the line, are in your driver or passenger door before you realize what is going on.. I saw an at the time brand new 2001 Z28 get totaled at the track n that exact same scenario...

now, I don't condone going out in the public with traffic and racing, but on a highway with room to give, I don't see anything wrong with a short pull... sure you are risking cops but like breaking **** modding, you got to pay to play

and as far as organized street racing AWAY from the public on deserted roads in a "controlled" environment, I see absolutely nothing wrong with that, a lot of those are ran much safer than some drag strips

I've yet to see a car leaking fuel have its fuel trail accidentally lit by a torch(track official) at a street race, i've seen that at a drag strip, had one of the crew members of the guy racing NOT had a fire extinguisher in hand, that would have been a bad day for that car

yeah so a guy who lies about his mods beat a car that thought he was stock................wait, I can't hate on that, that sounds like me, lol

BUT people do know my car is tuned, after the fact or if they ride with me... I mean they kind of realize Cobalts didn't come with 23psi stock, and I end up telling them... I mean I just race for fun anyway so i'm not trying to be some "sleeper"... especially considering most people that race here would put car lengths on me anyway, not really much to sleep on when you get walked by 3+ cars

Its funny when you compare trap speeds of 13.3 1/4 mile runs on both cars, how much faster the css really is. 13.3 @ 106 (WOT) vs 13.3 @ 111 (Mike Peperni)...big freaking difference. So from a roll stock vs stock no contest, css wins.

EDIT - I'm not ragging the CSRT...I acually kind of want one. 4 doors, aggressive styling, hatchback, and fast. Add some better suspension components, and lose about 200 lbs. Then I would trade the balt in for one.

BTW... Stock PSI is 10 on stock and 14-15 on stage 1 for C-SRT-4
"Benefits of the Stage 1 kit:

Increased boost level, most people see a change in boost from 10 peak psi boost to 14-15 psi. "

So he probably had it tuned(minimum), not stage 1.. or stage 1 and tune
