Shame it costs so much to "rebuild" them, might be interested in it for the future.

You should check and see if the 67 exhaust housing is the same as the 71 exhaust housing...

They shouldn't be, 58 vs 63 on the turbine wheel. There should be a small clearance between the housing the turbine wheel, way less than 5mm

sooooo, I just took out my pcv check valve that keeps the oil out the intake. I put it under a light stream of water, runs like a faucet. tried new one, holds liquid and doesn't leak. now wouldn't it be just awesome if that was the smoking issue? gonna find out

Is this the one that goes in the Intake manifold?
I bought a new one of those too just in case that is going on with the new turbo.

But our turbos still have play.

Don't some turbos have play anyway until they get oil in the bearings that serves to tighten up the clearance? What does ZZP say about it?

Yes it has a little, from everything Iv been reading ball eating turbo'd can have up to.006 of an inch I think it's inch of play, the oil pressure tightens them up

All turbos have a little in and out (compressor to turbine direction or passenger side to drivers side for our cars) and very little front to back. If the front and back allows the rotation to be stopped or just hits the housing then you've killed the bearings and the oil seal is most likely done also.

I know the efr turbos claim to have a oil restrictor that automatically works correctly, but I wonder what pressure they actually need and what restriction occurs is correct, and then the other issue than can happen is if the oil return allows pressure from that side to build then you can blow oil seals also.

Well guys, I just went on a hard ass run, not only are my fuel trims now not stupid lean, my car doesn't smoke, doesn't even have the nasty ass exhaust smell I was having smoke or not. Smells like normal exhaust , runs 5 by 5. I shall check again tomorrow to make sure, but by the looks of it, she is fixed. Now I am upgrading to Powell seperator v3 so this crap never happens again.
