Yeah it uses the whole motor trans control arm setup from the cobalt. Doesn't look like a weather friendly setup but I don't drive the cobalt in rain now anyway. Would be a lot of fun but I would have to run wheelie bars.
I'm seriously gonna look at it when the cobalt is done for. Go ahead and build the motor and trans for your car and at some point they can live on in the goblin.

I was just talking to ZZP about my build. I had the same idea as you with the LDK, but repalcing with wiseco pistons and K1 rods. I told them i was looking at least 500-550whp with either a 5858 or 6262. They said the block would be at its limit around that power, especially for a daily it would be not reliable. So, I only want to build this once. I'm going gen 3 girdled block, wiseco and K1, probably a 5858 and sending the 4.05 off to powell for a 4.45 upgrade if i can find gears in the next few months.
I think Cmiller also did a stock block with good pistons and rods with a 5857 but ended up cracking a sleeve due to the 32psi of boost, making somewhere in the mid 500whp. I would save up for a girdled or sleeved block.

The LDK is $1900, the bare gen 3 girdled block is also $1900, so you're going to be spending more but it will be bulletproof in the long run. IDK about you guys, but I only want to build this once.

I'm still not taking a chance. The 4.05 has lasted me about 40,000 miles so far since i swapped it in. The 6758 is ramped to come on full boost by 3900 rpms and has been fine. I want to worries when I'm making 500+whp and getting on it in 3rd lol. Anyone who has blown their F35 before will know that feeling when doing a WOT run in 3rd.

well I took my head off. pistons look very clean, no signs of any damage. underside of the valves look like the motor is almost new. so I'm pretty sure my turbo is the culprit. that or the valve seals. should probably take a pic to see if u guys think it was burning oil or not in the cylinders

Still getting a built ldk. If this one checks out will probably sell the head at least. The block idk if I'd sell it. Don't think anyone is crazy enough to risk a second gen block nore do I know if I'd risk putting it back in the car. And I'm gonna be getting bigger turbo with the new motor so mine can sit on the shelf and look pretty, unless someone wants to risk buying it for around 500, not sure yet what I'm gonna do with everything. The head looks great, at most it needs new valve seals. Don't know what I should charge for that either.

Well I think I blew my zfr. car runs fine, turbo boosts fine, but under boost, and only under boost I get clouds of blue and white smoke. it doesn't actually happen when I'm going that I can notice, but when I come to a stop after iv been boostin, tons of blue and white smoke. which after a little light driving goes away. I did compression test just to make sure my motor was ok, little over 150 on all cylinders. so damn, I think I need a new one.
Bringing this his back from the dead , I’m having the exact issue as you but with a 7163 , did you ever figure it out ?

ya pretty sure it was the turbo. shaft play where turbine and compressor hit housing. I cant 100% say it was, but more than likely was. the reason I did a new setup, well besides loads of power, in the end, turbo is cheaper if it goes bad.
