K&N Intake and blow by
Need some help from other K&N intake users out there. Pull the intake from your valve cover to your intake, and let me know if it is oily. If the intake is designed properly, there should be no oil there. I ask because I notice that mine is oily, which should not be possible since there is a check valve on the other end of that hose, which should only allow air from the intake to the valve cover, and not the other way around, assume that there is enough incoming air pressure.

Is your check valve working properly? I'm sure you already checked that first.
If you haven't read this thread yet i highly recommend it cause it has a lot of good info on how the VC breather system works. GMtech pm'd this to me and i found out the check valve was installed on the wrong hose.

K&N filters are great for racing. Gotta be cleaned often and oiled correctly . Dont stop a lot of small particulate. Screws up tune if the maf is not correctly positioned. Only shows gains above say 5000 rpm.
bottom line most of the K&N I see are not properly maintained. So why bother for the street?
power increase? doubtful

it seems to be a hit or miss. ive noticed some of the k&n intake cars with this issue. not all but some. i recommend a catch can or replacing the check valve and keep that filter clean. for a car that sees a lot of street use i like to use the aem dry flows.
