So there is an elimination style street drag event offered at a strip near me for 11.00 cars and slower. I need to do a bunch of these!

Slicks allowed? With them and your setup I would guess you to be in the 11.40-11.60 range, but who knows. And you will have to be good on the tree. Is it a pro tree or countdown style?

I don't actually know. The ones I've been to are instant green. Just very interested in getting to the track. I will be running slicks if I can

Is this at Castrol? Do you need to have a roll cage when you get below 11 seconds?

I haven't been close enough to care. I was told once or twice but don't remember if it's faster than 10.99 or 9.99. I will try and look it up. Who is your track sanctioned by?

9.99 or quicker or 135 or faster. Must have functioning antilock brakes and airbags.

No - do not do this.

Unless you have experience, you will be eliminated in the first or second round - which means you get one or two runs in before you're done, and you will have realized that you have wasted your money.

Get practice under your belt:
Figure out how to launch;
Figure out where your shifting sweet spots are (this will vary for engine combo/tune, as well as FDR);
Then figure out how to run on a regular, vs pro tree.

Most people figure out the tree first, but in the grand scheme of things, it's the least important thing to learn - you will always get a slip showing the important stuff like 60' ect - even when you redlight.

Consistency is alot harder than it might seem.

With elimination style runs, as it happens, often the slower car comes out on top - especially if the slower vehicle is an automatic.

To expand upon that, for elimination competition, automatic pretty much always has a heads up on manually shifted cars - There are typically only two ways an automatic car will get eliminated:
1) bad dial in
2) red lighted

The last event I attended I was spanking blown V6 FWD cars in my (n/a) Grand Am - but I only made it a couple rounds because I was so inconsistent;
The winner for that event was a 1985 Fiero;
it was an automatic, and had a (maybe a 95hp) four banger "Iron Duke".
The car was painfully slow, but seriously consistent - which is how he won.
