LNF fast clicking under valve cover

I have a noise coming from under he valve cover i researched and I think it is a lash adjuster. I've showed a couple people but they can't determine the noise. No it is not my HPFP because the clicking I'm curious about is much faster than the fuel pump clicking.

Yeah it goes faster as rpms increase. The sound is only heard when standing in front of the hood

Sounds like a normal cold day for a lnf to me. I may be wrong but that sounds like the direct injection.

no it doesn't, I know that sound, I hear the direct injection, then I hear a knocking. sounds like mine did when one of the cam lobes was worn away. if u open the valve cover look at all ur lobes, just to make sure. mine was the intake lobe right by timing chain

The car is fully warmed up in the video that's the thing. It's not a cold start it makes that noise at idle and I feel like it increases as rpms go up. I have some pics of what my cams and rollers look like but the website won't let me post. I have a little wear but no engravings on the cams. But the intake side did look worse. After u replaced the can the problem was fixed ?

Well mine was totally worn away in the middle and only the edges of the lobe were left. All that metal went through the motor and caused scoring in cylinder one and oil pump gears. So I had to replace the motor. If it's just a little work on urs, I doubt that would be it.

Tom, what do you think caused your cam lobe to wear in a roller engine?

That sound that spinning as fast as the cams? It's probably the evap solenoid. Put your ear next to it and put your hand on it and feel it.

I'd be curious to hear what it sounds like when you rev it up a bit. I want to say I hear something wrong but it's not definitive

Yea, all I'm hearing is hpfp. Unplug MAF after warm up and see if it changes.

The evap solenoid does make that same noise at the same speed. I tried unplugging it but the sound didn't go away. And yeah it sounds like it's spinning pretty fast and it does increase with RpM

Have you pulled your valve cover to inspect.

I also have a sound similar to that or its just my paranoia ...Mine is weird tho I can really notice it when I walk away from my car and listen to it idle, My car is in storage and I noticed it when I started it about a week ago but can't do anything till spring so I will post this here for you to view VV

Yeah I think it's a lash adjuster. My cams and rollers have wear but that's just from racing it none of the cams had anything engraved.

That makes me feel better. I think mine sounds the same as OP's but fortunately I'm replacing & upgrading the entire head this winter so all the parts in the top end will be brand new.

Only thing I did different was use Royal purple non4718 certified oil, the tick started a week after I put in that oil, the other lobes were starting to wear to. Don't know why that one was quicker. I did research and a lot of people out there had same ticking start a few days after using royal purple and changed it right away , unfortunately , I left it in for over a month

Sounds exactly as my LNF does. The fast pulsing of the DI + the tick........tick........tick that I have no idea what that is. Sounds like a clock to me lol
