The clock sound is the high pressure fuel pump I believe and that is normal operation.

That's what I keep saying and I need to make sure that is a lash adjuster. And if it is I need to figure out how to replace it

Could just be the video quality but it does sound like its slightly out of time. Usually throw codes for that though.

What would make u think the timing is off? The video quality isn't bad so it's actually pretty accurate. When I popped the valve cover, the timing marks didn't match but apparently you have to turn the motor over like 45 times to see it in the right spot

To clear up confusion I suggested the lash adjuster, My previous post was to clear up the clock sound that was posted above me.

So from my understanding you have inspected and found no broken adjuster right? You could have lazy one tho so keep that in mind, I kinda hear knock to around the 4 second mark but it is hard to tell in the video, But maybe grab another video if you don't mind.

Here is another bump for more reviews

I didn't thoroughly inspect it because originally I didn't think that was the problem. And I will record a another video tomorrow morning after I warm it up. The noise isn't on the timing chain side so I'm almost positive my problem isnt the timing chain tensioner or anything over there. And I have no CEL and the car runs excellent so I'm thinking the timing is good. Thank u

Because I only hear normal clicking noises. Hpfp, regulator, and Evap all make "clicking" noises. And the other sound seems like vvt or worse. Maybe post of video of what it sounds like while slowly reving to 4-5k rpms.

Yes and no lol but to be honest I was beside Powell at the time, And it was more of a learning experience for me since I was still new to the turbo model ecotec at the time.

But I have experienced this and what really caught my attention was, I was taking a pic while it was idling one day and I heard a ticking noise and the sound was more noticeable from far because the engine is so damn loud up close. Anyways after showing John he agreed that it was weird and we ripped it apart. Weird thing was all of them visually looked fine, But one or so must have been lazy if I had to conclusion to give. Becuz there is no more noise now.

Did u have to remove the cams to get to the adjusters? And how long did the job take?

At the time I got my timing done as well so yes we removed the cams, But no you don't have to. You can either loosen the cam and wiggle them by or get a valve spring compressor tool and do it that way.

I was with someone who knew his **** lol so that helped quite a bit lol, It all depends on the method you choose, Also how mechanically inclined you are to be honest.

I wanna do it myself but I don't like messing with the timing so i didn't wanna take the cams out. If I can do it without touching the timing I can do it myself

If you compress the spring and do it that way it wouldn't require loosing the cam or playing with timing.

Maybe someone else knows a different way or a trick to do this if you aren't comfortable. So here is a free bump for more views!!

I have heard 3 noises in my car as well but ignore them because the cars good lol. I have the fast clicking and the ticks and then a third quieter noise that sounds like when you smack your tongue against the roof of your mouth with your mouth open.

I will say I had a cell 2 weeks ago on my stock tune at cold start one ice cold morning. Cel was p0303 I think. Series of missfires.

@T_Fog how would I compress the spring without removing the cam? Do they make a special tool for that?

There is actually different type of valve spring compressors you can use.. But the one that we used and even others member I have seen use is in the link below and I have only heard great results with it. It can be done but keep in mind it is going to be tight, just to give you the heads up.

The link I provided is the proper one that should be used with ecotecs, It actually bolts to the head.

Hope this helps, Keep us posted

So not sure what you found, but I had an issue where I was breaking the roller part of the rocker. I honestly don't hear any abnormal in the video you posted.
