I just rode in a guys cobalt lnf with E85, amazing. He spun his tires in third and it literally pinned me to the seat.

I'm considering it now.

I need to do some reading though, I wanna see if bigger injectors will eliminate the cold start issue.

If you can find bigger injectors let EVERYONE know where. I haven't been following this thread bit has someone found some larger injectors somewhere?

No we haven't. It's not necessarily injectors as much as fuel pumps

Its kinda both. In my experience with diesels you don't really want to upgrade one without the other. Its a matching type system... To big of injectors and you won't get enough pressure... to big of pump and you risk messing up injectors. I realize our direct injections runs at like 5% of the peak pressure that the modern common rail diesels run at but the same principles should still apply.

The stock injectors will flow enough, I just couldn't hold pressure to keep the Inj DC within the inj window.

BYT has done it, but mine was slower 60-100 from ~70%E on up to E85 by a few tenths. I went back to 60%E and fuel rail pressure = commanded for the entire log. Mine was a very early '08 from the pilot run. IDK if the pump specs changed over time or not.

Maybe someday I'll try a BYT tune to see if it will hold it on E85. Working on adding meth system now though. Always somethin'.

Yea I'm doing my E85 50/50 tune with Term right now. It's already like half a second faster. I like it alot.

You have a tune with revised injection angle to do a write entire with now which should fix the low rail pressure issue.

4.5 should be very doable with a Term tune.

My best was a 4.2 on 60% when it was in the 30's last fall. Hard to keep traction in third though. lol.

Yea and last fall you couldn't do a straight HP tune like he just sent me too lol... I'm stoked. I don't know how much E he will run me up to but since E is almost $1 cheaper, I'm down for as close as I can get to 100%

Keep me posted when you do! I'm waiting for this also for another californian to drop the gun. If all works well I'm down to get 3.60$ a gallon for some race gas, compared to shitty 91 for 4.50

I, most likely, wont be able to get to 100% E85 with the stock fuel system.

47-60%E is my sweet spot. I can mix with 93 octane for 47%E or with 87 octane for 60%E with the same timing tables, same performance. 70% E (4:1) is about my fueling limit, over that it gets iffy. Gonna run 3:1 (66%) for a few tanks and see how it does.

That just sounds like a PITA on fill up.

9 gals of E85 to 3 gals of 87, two card swipes. No big deal.

Was that full E-85 or just E-47? I thought you filled up with just E-85? Because if that was just E-47 you were exceeding the max torque the factory injection settings can handle on E-47 which means you are making at least 410 wtrq. Airloads were very high at 326% in 3rd at 4K RPMs.

If you're installing that, could you take some pics and such of what you did?

12 gals for me is ~4 days. If I throw a 6 gal can in the trunk, it's a once a week fill at the station.

Part of the install is done, I used a Devil's Own tap on the WWF tank lower front side behind the foglight. Mounted the nozzle in the ZZP Maf relocate block off plate in the CP just before the TB. Ran the nozzle tubing and boost tubing. The kit was missing the boost switch (stage 1) so I'm waiting on it to finish but the pump will be mounted down in the bumper space behind the driver's foglight. Boost switch will mount in there behind the headlight also. Only exposed parts will be the tubing, checkvalve and nozzle. Boost switch tubing will tee into the line from the lower CP pressure tap.

Getting some fittings tonight so I can mount the pump down in there lower than the tank.

It's progressing in stages. \threadjack. lol

I need this tank of gas to run out so I can finally head to the E station

Still haven't decided if I want to run full E or just a blend, though.

3rd gear on e47 = WIN! Even fourth gear is pretty quick.

2nd gear on e47 = LOSS! I need traction management, it's totally rediculous and completely useless. Nothing like doing rolling burnouts everywhere I go, even at part throttle.

I think my trap speed must be around 118/119mph now. I'll have to do a run.

Torque management per gear is your friend.
